Elena:
My whole body is shaking, I don't understand anything, I feel sick, I'm probably about to faint, I want to cry, and on top of all that, an original vampire in a perfectly ironed suit is hugging me and he is so perfectly calm that it's making me want to barf. I slip out of his embrace and I notice the sadness on his face. For a fleeting moment, I feel a wave of guilt - after all, he means well for me - but that feeling quickly disappears and I'm all upset, watching Elijah sit back down on the chair, at a safe distance from me.
'Tell me everything,' I ask him in a shaky voice husky with tears that are getting into my eyes again, without me being able to control it. A reminder that I'm human again. 'Where's everyone else? Caroline, Stefan...' I make a pause, and I gather the strength to pronounce the last name. 'Damon?' I spill out in the end.
'Uhm,' Elijah clears his throat. 'They have left.'
'They've left?' I repeat in confusion.
'They no longer live here. Caroline and Stefan live in Paris now; Caroline has some kind of a business there, she organises fancy bachelorette parties, and Stefan... God knows what Stefan is doing, Klaus isn't that interested in him,' mumbles Elijah.
'In Paris? Wow. And Damon?' I pronounce the name again with trouble.
He stares at me with hesitation, and I know that no matter what the answer will be, I won't like it. As if I hadn't heard enough painful information.
