All I can think of is to run, but I don't see any openings. The robots aim their guns at me and I'm ready to give up when suddenly one the robot's head falls off.
"Run, kid!" A man with a blonde short beard says while he kills another robot.
I'm too stunned to move. That's my mistake. One of the robots shoot my shoulder. I end up screaming in pain while holding my shoulder.
"Stupid kid!" The man yells while killing the last robot that shot me. "I told you to run!"
I try talking to him, but all that comes out of my mouth is a scream of pain.
"Shut up, kid." He says like I can control whether I scream or not. "You've attracted enough attention already. Now let's hurry up and leave before any more come.
I try to stand up, but that only brings me more pain, which causes me to scream again. After many try's, the pain's so unbearable, I knock out.
I wake up to the sound of a fire. The pain in my side hurts so bad. I've never been shot before. I feel like I could have gotten it a lot worse.
"You're awake." The man says. "About time. I'm Nate."
I manage to sit up without screaming, but I know I'm going to have trouble standing up.
"I'm Danny." I reply. "Should that bullet be hurting this bad?"
"Yeah. It's not a regular one. The robots created it. It's more painful then a regular one." He tells me while cooking meat over the fire.
After that it gets quiet. I see that he barely has a beard. He looks like he's in his forties, with blonde hair. He's not very tall.
"Are your parents close by?" He asks, breaking the silence. "Or have you been alone this whole time?"
"A-" Right before I tell him a man comes up and holds Nate with a gun to his head. The man has darker skin with short hair, and looks really buff.
"Get out of here, kid." The man tells me.
"Let go of him." I say trying to seem threatening.
"I said get out of here!" The man shouts obviously unconvinced.
"He can't, idiot." Nate says barely able to talk since the man is holding him in such a tight grip. "He's been shot by one of them."
I look at Nate angrily. Now the guy knows I'm weak. He can kill both of us in an instant.
"Dang it." The man says. Lessening his grip on Nate.
Nate and I both knew that was his chance. Nate elbows the man in the stomach making him fall.
Nate grabs his bag and runs towards me. I bring my hand out so he can bring me with him but he runs past me.
"Nate, wait!" I shout expecting him to come back. But I know he too far.
The man gets back up while still holding his gun. I know it's over for me. That's until the man just sits back down and puts his hands to his face.
"Dang it!" He shouts. "Sorry I had to bring you into this, kid."
"Why aren't you killing me?" I ask. My curiosity taking over me.
"I'm not trying to kill you. I'm going after Nate." He says while taking his hands away from his face.
"Why? What did he do to you?"
"He robbed me and my family. That bag he had was mine."
I immediately feel bad for the man that was trying to attack me.
"Where's your family now?" I ask, regretting it the second after I say it.
He just stays quiet.
"I'm sorry for asking." I say before it gets too awkward.
He sighs. "It's fine. The robots took them. A little bit after he took our stuff. I wanted to see where they were."
It goes silent again. I think about telling him about Sarah. And decide why not.
"I'm looking for someone too. My little sister Sarah. But they took her because of me. I couldn't protect her."
"Don't blame yourself, kid. I did for a long time, and that got me no where. We can find them." He says while he gets up. "So, come on. Let's go find them."
I try to get up, but fall again.
"I can't get up."
"First of all, I'm Tyrone. And let me help you."
"I'm Danny." I say while Tyrone try's to help me up.
I try not to scream by biting my tongue, but one eventually does come out after I'm standing.
"You okay?" He asks.
Right before I answer I see Nate grab Tyrone and put a gun to his head.
"Looks like the tables have turned." Nate tells him. "Now give me everything you have."
