It's been two weeks since Xander asked me out. He has been over at my house almost every day and today we are going to his house. He is ready for me to meet his father and sister.

"So it's just the three of you?" I ask as we are walking towards his car. He walks quickly to get to the passenger door before me to open it as he always does.

"No. My dad's girlfriend lives with us too. She is Lillian's mom." He replied as he closes my door and walks back around to get in the car. "She works a lot though so she is never really there."

"I feel bad for asking and you don't have to answer but what about your mom?" instantly his face goes blank.

"I don't know. I have never really met her. I mean she was here when I was young she left when I was like 3. My dad tells me about her. He has never told me why she left though. Every time I bring it up he changes the subject."

"oh wow. I'm sorry." I rest my head on his shoulder and look up at him. He looks down at me and smiles.

"It's okay. I have learned to accept it. I mean it is childish to be upset and miss something I never knew." I lift my head and we just look at each other for a moment. He leaned closer and then his lips are on mine. It feels so right. Like this is how it is supposed to be. I mean we are "destined to be together" so I guess it's supposed to feel this way. When we finally pulled away he started the car. Before he started driving he just sat there for a second looking at me.

"What?" I say slightly laughing.

"You." He says as he pushes my hair out of my face. "You just make me so damn happy" I feel my face get red. He just smiles and turns towards the road, as he starts driving. A couple minutes after we pull out of the driveway I get a call.

"Hello" I say not knowing who this is.

"Hello. This is Gold Beach Veterinary Clinic. Is this Jordan Malibu?" the person sound so professional. Like she has used that line a million times. Well she probably has.

"Yes, this is her." Maybe I got the job?

"I am calling to inform you that we have looked into your application. Unfortunately we do not have any openings right now. You are on the list though so as soon as we have an opening we will be sure to give you a call.

"Oh okay. Umm thank you anyway. Have a nice day."

"You too." She replied as she quickly hung up. I let out a small sigh of disappointment.

"What was that?" Xander asks not taking his eyes off the road. He slows down as we pull into a driveway.

"When I first came here I had an interview at the Veterinary Clinic. I never got a call back until now, and she said there are no job openings."

"Well that's stupid." He says as he stops the car.
