Chapter 5

When I get back to the house I start some research. Everyone here is just strange. I look into it and I spent about an hour looking when I finally found something. Superhumans. What are Superhumans? All it says is that Gold Beach was taken over hundreds of years ago by Hybrids. I don't know what hybrids are either. I sit researching for at least 3 more hours when I must have fell asleep. I awoke to a knock on my door.

"Yes?" I reply unable to shake my sleepy voice.

"There is someone downstairs who wants to meet you." Sam says as she slowly creaks my door open.

"What? Umm okay? I'll be down in a minute." I get up and fix my hair, since I had been sleeping, then I head downstairs. As soon as I get downstairs someone is waiting in the kitchen. "Umm Hello? My aunt said you wanted to meet me?" He turned around and I was speechless. He was gorgeous. You aren't supposed to say that about guy are you? I don't know but it seemed like the only word I could use to describe him. He had shaggy brown hair that swooped over his face just above his eyes. Oh and the eyes, a dark brown, so dark they almost looked black. He was tall and slim, not to slim though. He was wearing a Panic! at the Disco t-shirt and dark blue skinny jeans. I realized I had been staring probably a little longer than I should have when my thoughts were interrupted by him clearing his throat.

"Yes. Umm my name is Xander. Xander Aiden." He said as he walked closer to me. His voice was deep but also shaky. It was really cute.

"Okay nice to meet you Xander. I'm Jordan. Jordan Malibu." I am still slightly confused on why he wanted to meet me. I mean I have only been here for one day. How does he even know of my existence?

"Do you mind taking a walk with me. I have something I need to talk to you about." He asked looking away from me. He was shy. I could tell. I think it is cute when guys are shy. Going against my better judgement I agree to go with him. "So Jordan, I am guessing you have noticed that this place is different?"

"Yeah I guess I have. Everyone seems kind of strange. I looked into it yesterday and found out something about Super Humans. That Gold Beach was taken over hundreds of years ago by Hybrids." His eyes seemed to light up.

"Ahh you know so much already. That is good. That just makes my job easier." What? What does that mean? At this point he seems calmer. Like me telling him what I know calmed his nerves.

"Your job?" I realized that when I said it my voice seemed shaky. Like I was scared. But I wasn't... was i?

"My Boss is the leader of Gold Beach. He was the leader when It was taken over. The leader of the Hybrids."

"But that happened hundreds of years ago how is he still alive?"

"He is a Hybrid. We don't die. We live forever." I'm still kind of confused. I have always believe in supernatural beings but I have never heard of Hybrids.

"We? So you are one of them?"

"Yes. And believe it or not so are you." I didn't say anything. I didn't have to. My face said it all. "Your mother didn't tell you why you moved here did she?" still speechless I shook my head. "Oh, well she sent you here because she can't handle a Hybrid. She doesn't know everything she needs to know. We do. This is where you belong. You were born here. But at that age you were in danger. The Dark One wanted you, you were stronger than him. Your mother was smart for taking you away from here. But she should have brought you back. When you were about 10 the dark one was defeated. So you should have come back. But she didn't want to. She thought you would have a better life there. My boss finally explained to her that on your 18th birthday everything would change. You will get your powers when you turn 18. So will I. This is where you need to stay."

"Wow. That's a lot to take in. so how old are you?"

"Same as you. Actually you are older than me by a few hours." He pauses to take a deep breath. "It is said that we are the chosen ones. On our 18th birthday, the Dark One is supposed to come back, for us. And we have to defeat him. In order for everyone in Gold Beach to survive we must defeat him."
