"Peter, if you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?"
We we're laying in the grass now, staring up at the stars like they would help us find the answers to all our questions.
"I would stay right here," I looked over at him and he was looking right at me, like I was helping him find his answer, "right in this moment, staring up at the stars, with you."
"Why?" I asked, looking back up at the night sky.
"Because there is no other place I'd rather be."
I looked back at him quickly, and he just smiled at me. We both looked back at the stars, and Peter grabbed my hand, intertwining our fingers together and giving my hand a light squeeze.
"You know me the best, Amelia, and that is honestly the scariest feeling."
I really wanted to say back that what I feel for him is my scariest feeling, because what I feel for him I was starting to notice that someone else also feels for me. I wanted to tell him that I didn't want to choose, that I couldn't choose between him and my best friend so instead I said nothing at all and tried to remember this moment as much as I could, because I knew that this summer would end and I would have to choose, and I would have to leave one of them. For good.
