He watched you grow up, and he grew with you.

The day Lindir found you lying in Trollshaws without memory and with bad injuries is still the day he considers his happiest. He had taken you to Rivendell and brought you to his Lord Elrond, who should then decide your fate. Because of the fatherly connection that the Lord immediately felt when he saw you and the joyful spirit of yours, Elrond decided to adopt you into his family. Lindir, who luckily found you and saved you from a slow and painful death, was still a servant in training, not older than half a century when Elrond gave him the task to take care of you and make sure you would grow up to be a proper elven woman.

Years later he often caught himself staring at you, admiring the beautiful young woman you grew up to be.

"(Y/N), do me a favour and clear my conscience by walking closer by my side and farther away from this steep hillside." Even though he was no longer in charge of protecting you from others as well as from yourself, he still acted as if he was, always giving you a worried yet slightly annoyed expression.

"I am no longer a little child, mellon, I can watch out for my self ver-" He cut you off with a sharp glance and you linked your arm with his, knowing that he was not up for your speech of defence.

"You might not be a child any more, but you still haven't grown out of your old habits I see." You smiled and happily chatted with him while the two of you strolled through Rivendell, eyeing the beautiful landscape that became your home years ago.

"Could you please stop that?" You had felt his eyes lying upon you for most of the time, and it made you feel uncomfortable.

"Huh? Goheno nin, I just...boe i 'waen, and so should you, it's late. Ollo vae a abarad." You noticed a faint blush appearing on his usually fair skin as he turned to walk away. "Û! Daro! You have been acting strange lately. I won't let you leave until you have explained to me what is wrong with you."

Lindir stared down at the stone path, avoiding your gaze. " I can't. I mean, I could, but I should better not do so." Little did you know how he would love to tell you how he felt about you, about how his stomach twisted in such a pleasant way when he saw you, or about how he couldn't think of anything besides kissing your lips, but he did not dare to tell you, for he was afraid that his Lord would not approve or that you would start avoiding him.

" Tell me. Now. Av-'osto, whatever it is, I will not be mad at you, nor will I tell Lord Elrond about it. I promise." You cupped his face with your hands and made him look at you. " We're friends after all, right?"

He smiled at you, blushing harder at the touch of your hands holding him close to your face. "Well, you...I...uhm..." He started stuttering and fumbling with his robes as he tried his best to turn away from you.

"Pe-channas! Don't you know how to talk anymore?" You smiled at him while he tried to find the right words for describing his feelings towards you, enjoying his presence as well as the tingling and blissful sensation which filled you with joy.

" You...I have been by your side since the day I found you and I have started to notice that you have grown to a beautiful lady and I must admit that I have started to develop...a stronger, different emotional bond to you than I had before,(Y/N). I am very sorry if that was just the slightest bit repulsive for you to hear." His voice slowly faded into a barely audible whisper as he turned away from you.

" Well, you sure have grown into quite a handsome man yourself. And ni 'lassui, that was very flattering."

The dying light of the sun tinted everything within it's reach orange as you slowly walked over to your constant companion and leaned in to softly kiss his now deep red cheek. "Ollo vae, melnya."
