Saje.
I'M SITTING IN MY ROOM searching for my best piece of writing. I sat five papers in front of me as I sat on the wooden floor. I bit my knuckle staring at each of them. They were all personal and had some information I didn't want to be put out but I remember Jakes words.
"Hey I'm going out for a bit. Want anything?" Connie leans against my doorframe, I shake my head no without looking at her. "Good luck, doll."
"Thank you Connie." I say still not letting my eyes leave the papers. I reach over and grab the one that really caught my eye. I hoped this was good enough for Jake. I snap out my thoughts from loud knocks on the door. "Seriously Connie? How many times will you forget something?"
I stand up and slip my house shoes on, I walk towards the door and unlock it. I pull the door open with my hands on my hips and straighten up seeing Shawn. He's dressed in an all black suite and his strong cologne filled my nose as he walked pass. "Sure come in."
"Jake said he's gonna be running a few minutes late so we have time to spare." I watch him observe my place, he stops at a picture of Connie and I. "Spare time for what?" He sets the frame back down and turns around.
I wrap my arms around my body as he stares at me. I'm wearing a silk camisole with boy shorts on. I should've looked through the fucking peephole.
"What happened last time will not happen this time Shawn. I m-mean it." He quickly snatches me by my waist and I feel my words get stuck in my throat. His touch makes my knees weak and my heart beat quicker. "Saje if I wanted you, I could have you. Please don't underestimate me darling." He whispers making the hairs on my back stand up.
My eyes quickly advert to my ringing phone. I could see Harry's name pop up. Shawn bites his lip, chuckling darkly. "Get it." I hurry over to my phone and slide the green bar. "Hey Harry."
"I'm convinced you're sick of me. I haven't seen you since the club."
"I know I'm terribly sorry but it's been a hectic week and I've been studying." I tell him as I see Shawn smirk at me. "I understand. It sounds like you need a break."
"You don't understand." I fake laugh leaving the living room. "Let's go to our spot. I know it'll cheer you up for sure." I smile in response.
I look back at Shawn who's leaned against the wall, looking at me. I turn around and smile again. "Sure. I'll call you when I'm done."
"Great. See you then."
"A date with your boyfriend?" I roll my eyes and walk pass him going in my bedroom. "He's not my boyfriend so stop calling him that." I look through my dresser for something to wear.
"You're right, he's not. You both just wanna fuck each other then make it official eh?" His chuckle makes me slam my dresser shut and I face him with a mug. "You know what? You're absolutely right. That's where I'm heading after this meeting with Jake. To fuck him senseless, eh?"
Before I know it, Shawn has me pinned against the wall. My arms are above my head and tight in his hands to where I can't move. He looks deeply in my eyes as my breath hitches.
"Watch your fucking mouth. I'm pretty sure Harry can't make your knees weak, make your heart beat quickly, makes your words get caught or make you obey his commands." He leans closer to my ear and I open my mouth slightly, ready for him to leave his marks again. "I'm positive he can't make you this wet hun. Now hurry up and get ready."
He looks at me one last time before exiting my bedroom. I stay stuck on the wall, trying to normalize my breathing. He was right, Harry couldn't do none of those things but make me smile. Maybe because he was a sweetheart and Shawn was a dominant dark man who could make me do anything.
"I don't hear the shower running Saje." I roll my eyes in annoyance and grab my towel, heading inside the bathroom. I make sure to slam the door.
—
I sat beside Shawn across from Jakes desk as he examines my paper. Out of nerves, I gnaw on my nail watching his facial expressions. He was good because I couldn't figure out what he was thinking. Finally, he lays my paper down slowly and sits his folded hands on his desk. He nods at Shawn then smiles at me.
"Saje, if you can do this all the time no doubt you'd be one of the top publishers. Welcome to the team." He stands up extending his hand and I just sit there smiling. Shawn nudges me and I quickly get up shaking his hand firmly. "Thank you Jake. You won't be disappointed, I promise."
"I'll believe it when I see it. I'll get Anne to email the details right away. I can't wait to see you bright and early Monday." Him and Shawn shake hands and Shawn thanks him before we leave the building. "I'm a member of New York Times. This can't be real."
"It's real sweetheart." Shawn confirms as Winston opens the car door for us. I slide in first then Shawn follows. "Thank you so much. I really appreciate you for taking your time out to do that."
"Don't thank me yet. Winston you can go straight home." Shawn tells him and he nods, I look at him. "I have to meet Harry."
"I forgot, it slipped my mind." He says knowingly with a smirk on his face. "Winston Could you drop me off at home? I have something to take care of."
"I'm sorry Ma'am—"
"Drop her off first please." I stare out the window, feeling his eyes on me. I could care less if he was mad, my life wasn't just about to revolve around him. He can't swoop in my life and take it over.
The ride to my place was an comfortable silence. Winston pulled up and Shawn told him to step out for a minute, he nods and waits outside. I fold my arms over my chest and stare straight forward. He grabs my chin and makes me look at him, he looks down at my lips then my eyes.
"Be ready Friday. Have your bags in the car and don't say you forgot Saje. Understand?" He says rubbing my cheek softly, I flicker my eyes and nod slowly, loving his touch. "Good. Have a good night sweetheart." I close my eyes hoping he would kiss me but instead he knocks on the window and Winston opens the door.
"Thank you Winston." I thank him and turn to Shawn who's now focused on his phone. "Tell your boyfriend I said hi." He teases, I roll my eyes and head straight to my car. I unlock it and get in, I start it and pull out with them behind me.
I pull out my phone and send Harry a text stating I'm on my way. I look in my rear view mirror and see Shawn staring at me. I smirk and drive in the direction of our getaway.
Shawn hated the fact I was still messing with Harry but he was here first and I liked his company. He would have to get over it because I wasn't gonna stop being friends with him. Harry is the only dude I can spill anything to while if I look at Shawn, everything flows out. It's like he has this spell on me and I can't get out of it.
I smile looking at Harry who gets out his car. I pull my keys out the ignition and Harry opens my door, letting me out. I thank him and he leans against my car smiling.
"I finally get to see your face instead of hearing your voice." He smirks, folding his arms against his chest. I arch my eyebrow at him and he quickly stands. "I apologize."
"It's cool. How you been?" We began walking the dirt path, catching up on one another. We stopped by a pond and skipped rocks, I won of course.
"Have plans this weekend?" Harry asks. I lay back on the grass and stare up at the lit sky. "Connie wants me to go with her to visit family." I lied, it's better than telling him the truth.
"Alright. Maybe next time?" He smiles and I return the favor, closing my eyes.
