Junmyeon x Reader

In the mirror was your flowery reflection, a big and bright grin showing off your perfect teeth, your hair styled into natural soft curls decorated with a couple of cute pins next to your light bangs. You weren't wearing much makeup, you had just applied a few stroked of mascara and thin eyeliner, in the end, a little bit of lip tint on your mouth and cheeks to give your face a more vibrant look.

A simple flower patterned dress hugged your body and you were ready to go. Your heart was beating loudly against your ribcage as you nervously headed to your school, today was the day that you had very much dreaded yet anticipated so much, you'd finally tell Junmyeon your feelings for him. You weren't sure if you wanted him to know, you were insecure, you weren't expecting to be accepted either, even though you had a slightly bad gut feeling about this you still insisted to yourself that you'd do it.

Junmyeon had never shown a certain interest in you, no interest at all to be specific, and you suspected that he disliked you more than he liked you. He'd never let you hang out with him unless you'd really insist, but those times he'd agree involuntarily. Even if it wasn't as pleasing as being with someone who actually wanted to be with you, you still found it nice because of his presence. Junmyeon rarely smiled, he was a calm person, on his face was often a serious expression. You remembered how irritated he had once gotten when you had told him that he'd actually use fewer facial muscles if he'd actually smile more. The memory, made you chuckle.

It sounded extremely typical, but he was such a beautiful person and you would only dream about how his smile could ever look like, and like probably a lot of other girls, you wanted to get one of those grins to grow on his lips. Even though you had understood that he wasn't going to give into you, you never give up. You had always told yourself how giving up would never give you what you wanted.

The whole day had passed so slowly that you had contemplated skipping class because the thought of confessing was giving you a mild anxiety and because the gut feeling had become even worse. But if you didn't do it today, you would never be able to bring yourself to do it ever again.

Bells were echoing through the walls and you ran to catch up to Junmyeon in the school's corridor where people were using their lockers. This hadn't exactly been the ideal place to confess, but you knew that Junmeyon would never agree to give you a minute somewhere else.

"Kim Junmyeon!" You called once you reached his silhouette, the boy slowly turned around to face you, and a sigh left his lips as soon as he saw your figure standing helplessly there behind him, hopeful eyes begging him to spare you some time.

"Can I have a minute-"

"What do you want?" The harshness in his voice had caught you off guard and a lump almost formed inside if your throat, but this wasn't the time to be sensitive. You almost felt like your voice had disappeared because for a couple of moments you were unable to say a single word. Junmyeon was about to turn on his heels when you finally managed to form a proper sentence.

"I, I really like you and maybe we could-" Your heart cracked a little when Junmeyon interrupted you for the second time, completely ignorant of what you had to say, people were silently observing the situation, a certain tension in the air as everyone wondered how Junmeyon was going to reject you. Your heartbeat was echoing loudly in your ears as he spoke.

"I'm sorry, I'm not really interested," He started, his eyes not even meeting yours, instead they scanned the ridiculous amount of people that were watching the scene, feeling slightly ashamed he cleared his throat and said words he never thought he would say so directly to someone.

"And there will never be something between us, okay? You've been following me around for too long to my liking. So while you're at it, leave me in peace." He almost burst, and that was when your heart broke, dusted away like nothing. Your arms dropped lifelessly to the side and you felt how the lump in your throat pushed harshly, the view getting blurry because of the salty tears. You had never wanted to be a bother to him, moreover a company, something extra to his days. But instead, you had done the complete opposite. Embarrassing him and yourself in front of everyone.
