In the previous chapter. . .

Yet against, Raizel found himself at an impasse. She seemed to be well taught, reserved and polite, as he deduced from her way of speech, but her words - always coming out as a double edged sword, as if they had a hidden meaning behind those letters she spoke.

'Just who is this girl?'

Now we continue.

That night, Annalise said nothing more to Raizel as she put out the fire and went back to sleep.

As silence fell over the forest, the Noble sat outside, on top of a nearby boulder, his eyes strained on the shining stars.

"They're beautiful, right?"

Turning his head to the side, he looked at the nearing forme of Annalise.

"I can't sleep. Mind if I join you?" She shyly asked.

Scooting to the side, Raizel made place for her to sit next to him.

Now seated, the amber eyed girl looked to the sky, a melancholic look lingering on her face.

"Raizel, do you have a family?"

Shacking his head, his crimson eyes closed, remembering his brother.

"Friends?"

At her question, the first image to pop up was of the Lord and the clan leaders.

"Somewhat. . ."

"I'm glad." She smiled, tears threatening to fall from the brim of her closed eyes. "At least you have something to return to."

'Why? Why are you so lonely?'

"Raizel. . ." She trailed off. "do you. . .wish to know of my past?"

He looked at her with surprise, clearly not expecting her to confide in him.

Taking his silence as a confirmation, she slowly began to enlist her past - the castle, her parents and that god awful night.

"I lost control. I got angry and I slipped, killed everyone in the castle and burnt it down. Before I knew it, I was in a forest, looking at the disaster I caused." She choked out, tears falling down her cheeks. "Tears. Such a human characteristic, yet to me is foreign. I haven't cried in a very long time. And I'm not even sad!"

Carefully, he placed her head on his shoulder, allowing her to cry herself asleep.

"You are no monster."

The next morning, Annalise found herself not in her bed, but in a completely different room.

Sitting up, she finally took notice of the presence of a man that stood by the door.

Seeing her awake surprised the man dressed in black uniform with golden trimmings. But not as surprised when out of nowhere, she had him pinned to the wall, her forearm pressed over his neck.

"Where am I?" She asked, her sweet voice turning darker with each word she spoke.

"Let go of him and I'll explain everything."
