Chapter Five (Still The Doctor's POV)
I followed her to Greenbrier Park. Yes, I had bothered to learn the name. I didn't want to show her the TARDIS yet, so I got this apartment. Amy was not happy, to say the least. But I was working on her. Anette sat on a stone bench and started taking pictures with her camera. Hmm. I spun on my heel and ran back to the apartment. when I got there, I started searching in her room. Finally, I found a tin box filled with pictures. They were......varied. There were expertly taken photos of flowers, plants, animals. There were pictures of landscapes, of her....fiancee...Jim. And at the very bottom, pictures of her, with rude comments written in red pen. They were horrible. Who wrote these? I decided to put her things away, but I left out the pictures of her. I needed to know, because, frankly, she needed to be emotionally stable for TARDIS travel.
Back to Anette's POV, because I suck at The Doctors.
I just sat there, taking pictures, for a few hours. It was interesting, to say the least. I called Jim. We had a date this Friday. Finally, I meandered back home, ready for bed even though it was only three. I opened the door and went on the path to my room, barely acknowledging the man on the couch. No, I still didn't know his name, because I didn't care. But I stopped short when I saw the pictures. Little thing you didn't know about me? I...cut. Not my wrists, but where nobody could see. My waist, stomach, sides. So those pictures of me were what I looked at while I did it. I wrote every truth about myself on those four pictures. I turned my head and said in a creepy calm voice, "You. Went. Through. My. Stuff." He nodded. "Thank god I did." I growled and reached for the pictures, which he pulled away. "Who wrote these?"
I snorted. "Someone who really doesn't like me."
"Who?"
"Hmm. I guess we'll never know. Pity."
"Anette."
"Strange Man."
"I'm the Doctor."
"Doctor what? Jekyll?"
"Just the doctor."
"Okaaaay, well, I'm gonna go now, and call you dave. Mmk. BYE!" I grabbed the pictures from him and went into my room. I heard him sigh. Oh well. He should know better than to hesitate. I locked the door and sat on the bed. But he unlocked it and came in. "Okay, so now I have to buy a new lock." I muttered. He sat next to me and spoke softly. "Did you write that?"
"So what if I did? Why would you care?"
"Because it's my job to take care of you."
"No. That's my job Dave."
"Not anymore. I care."
"Whatever. Please, just go." He sighed and left, but Amelia walked on in. "Hello Anette, i'm Amelia. Call me Amy. The doctor set me in here to check something." She tossed a bundle of fabric at me. Change into these." It was a sports bra and shorts that were barely there. My marks! "Don't worry, he's gone. Now go."
"NO."
"YES."
"WHY?"
"To make sure." I sighed and went into the bathroom. When I came out, she gasped. All my scars were fully visible. "Why.........when........Why would you do this?" I sighed. "Because I needed to. I need to. Its like....addicting. Plus, I deserve it." Her face was the panorama of horror. I laughed. "It's not a big deal." She came up to me. "Yes. Yes it is. DOCTOR!" I heard a door open to reveal Dave. He gasped too. "Jeez. Is this a strip club now?" I muttered. Dave pulled out this....blue light screwdriver wand thing, and pointed it at me. "What are you doing?'" He ignored me and looked to Amy. Definitely self inflicted. Well, i'll have the TARDIS make a special room for her. Until then, keep her occupied." She nodded and he left. "Can I put on some clothes now?" She nodded and I went into my room. I pulled on jeans and a soft knit sweater. No make-up, I couldn't afford to waste it. I flopped on the couch with a book in my hands. "What are you reading?" Amy asked. I spoke to her without looking at her. "I don't even know." I didn't. "How do you not know what book you're reading?" I waved my hand at her, still not looking up. "It's some vampire book, i'll finish it within the hour, no point in bothering to learn the name before I cast it aside." When i'm reading, I basically turn into an eighteenth century scholar. I heard her mutter something. "What was that?" I looked up. She looked at me with a face of horror. "Did you just say, 'you're so much like your father?"
