The next days were a whirlwind of chaos. True to his word, Shane had something new planned each day. The first day was spent almost entirely at the mall. Each member of the "squad" was tasked with picking out an outfit for me and we then did an 80s-movie inspired fashion montage.
Each person did pretty well, with the exception of Shane, who just picked the most random items he could. Ryland picked out a really nice blouse and some skinny faded denim jeans with, of course, (knock off) Gucci slides. Morgan got me an outfit almost identical to hers and I was surprised at how well the athleisure look looked on me. Garrett picked my favorite outfit, though.
I had absolutely no clue where he'd found the top since we were together most of the day, but he'd found a capped-sleeve peplum blouse with fabric that was covered in cats. It had a flattering fit and looked absolutely ridiculous. I loved it. He kept the rest simple with a pair of burgundy skinny jeans and bright yellow flats. To throw everyone off when I came out, he'd also picked a Ravenclaw robe to put over the real outfit.
"You've gotta be fucking kidding me," Shane sighed when I came out. Morgan and Andrew started laughing and Ryland just stared wide-eyed.
"What? You guys don't like it?" I gave them a twirl and Garrett clapped for me.
"I'm gonna puke." To add to the illusion, Shane fake gagged.
"Hey! It looks great on her!" Garret feigned offense.
"Fine, what do you think about this instead?" I took the robe off to reveal the real outfit. I gave them different poses to show it off.
"I can't believe I'm saying this," Shane began, "but I actually really like it. It's weird as fuck, but it works."
"I'm a little jealous. Where did you find that, Garrett? I kind of want one," Morgan confessed.
"I'm living for this look. You could totally be a really weird stylist," Ryland complimented Garrett.
"A true professional never discloses his secrets," he replied. I'd have to ask him privately because I wanted to see what other weird items the store had.
"I absolutely love it. Thank you so much." I walked over to Garrett and gave him a hug and kissed him on the cheek. My cheeks began to heat up and I tried to cover myself by kissing everyone else's cheek, too. I hadn't expected the contact to affect me like it did, but I felt nervous for the next few minutes and I think he did, too, judging by the fact that we kept avoiding eye contact.
Day two consisted of buying and using as many "As Seen on TV" items we could find. Garrett and I talked throughout the day, but there was still a weird tension. I wasn't sure if I'd offended him the day before or what. While taking a lunch break at Chipotle, Morgan and I went to the bathroom together and I took the opportunity to ask her.
"Is Garrett weird about people invading his personal space?"
"Not really, considering how much he invades ours. Why?"
"I think kissing him on the cheek yesterday made him uncomfortable. It's been a little weird since."
"I bet he likes you!" I couldn't see her face since we were each in a stall, but I could hear that she was smiling.
"I doubt that. Isn't he gay? I've only known of him dating men," I recalled from his and Shane's past videos.
"He dates whoever he feels a connection to. It's just been guys the last few times."
"Oh," was all I could say. I hadn't considered that.
"Do you like him, too?"
"I don't know," I answered honestly. "I didn't think he was an option, so I hadn't really thought about it."
