JOYCE POV
I’m going to meet Yassi today. Actually, excited ako to bond with her. She seems like a nice girl. She’s one of those people who I felt I could trust the first time I met her.
“Joyce!”
There goes her loud voice. Haha!
Joyce: Hi! Kanina ka pa? Sorry ha? Dumiretso na ko dito from school.
Yassi: Pansin ko nga. Naka-uniform ka pa eh. Where do you go to school nga pala?
Joyce: Sa Miriam College.
Yassi: Sa Katipunan? Lapit lang pala tayo eh. Sa UP Diliman din ako, kasama yung dalawang mokong. So that means pwede tayo lumabas-labas anytime. Great!
Joyce: Gusto ko yan. Wala din kasi ako masyado friends sa school eh.
Yassi: Don’t worry, ako bahala sa iyo. Tara na! Weeee!
So we went to Banapple. Pareho pala kami mahilig sa pastries and sweets ni Yassi.
Yassi: O game na, kwento.
Joyce: About what?
Yassi: Siyempre yung love story niyo ni Kris!
Joyce: Love story talaga? Haha!
Yassi: There’s no other way to call it. O game na!
Joyce: Uhmm, there’s really not much to tell. Bago pa lang din naman kasi kami. Magkaibigan ang parents namin. Matagal na. Business partners pa sila. But we haven’t met each other kasi nasa US siya diba for how many years din.
Yassi: Eh, how did you guys meet?
Joyce: One time nag-set ng dinner families namin. That’s when we met for the first time.
Yassi: And? How did you feel the first time you saw him?
Should I make up a story? But then it’s better to stick to some truths. I was never any good at lying anyway. So I remembered how I really felt the first time I saw him. That’s what I found myself telling Yassi.
Joyce: The first time I saw him, I didn’t know what to expect. He was late. So medyo turned off na ko sa kanya. Feeling ko di kami magkakasundo. Polar opposites! But the moment I looked into his eyes, I knew...I was lost… I knew that I’d never be the same again.
Yassi: Awwww….that’s so romantic! Love at first sight?
Love at first sight nga ba? Was it?
Yassi: Grabe. Eh siya, how did he feel about you?
How does Kris really feel about me? I’m sure wala naman siyang feelings sa akin.
Joyce: Si Kris? Siya na lang kaya tanungin mo. Alam mo na, mas maganda if siya magsabi sa iyo how he felt about me the first time.
Yassi: Sige sige. Ano pa? I mean, sweet ba si Kris sa iyo? What’s the most memorable thing na ginawa niya?
Again, I stuck with the truth. I remembered the first time he held my hand that night we announced na payag na kami sa engagement…
Joyce: The first time he held my hand, I wasn’t expecting that at all. Nagulat ako. Nagulat din siya. But it felt so right even that first time.
And that time we held hands as we were walking across the street.
Joyce: Gustong gusto ko talaga kapag hawak niya ang kamay ko. Alam mo yung feeling na... parang safe and secure ako as long as my hand is in his.
Yassi: Grabe! Kinikilig ako! Hahaha!
