"Why do I have to go again?"
"As my fiance you are required to come to all the events I attend. Walker and Martinez will be there as well."
"Do I have to wear this stupid gown and mask?"
Zeke turns around and looks at me blankly. "What makes you think you have any say in this?"
"Your wish is my command," I spit out before leaving
Once I reach my room I close the door and look at the dress laying on the bed. I have to admit it is beautiful and the mask did look pretty but it isn't my style. A regular shirt, jeans, and converse is the most dressed up I am willingly to get. Letting out a deep breath I quickly shower and try to look presentable although everyone will be hiding under the masks to even notice me.
The highlight of my day will be Asher, that is if I even see him at all, at this stupid event.
Staring at myself in the mirror I give myself a pep talk and go downstairs. Zeke got me heels to wear to the party but he will have to go over my dead body if he wants me to wear those death traps. Even though the dress is long enough for people not to notice my bare feet I decided to wear my converses.
"You look beautiful darling," Ada says once I reach the end of the stairs.
"Thank you," I say kindly.
She too is dressed in a beautiful dress and her hair is done in a neat bun bringing out her gray eyes. From the corner of my eye I see the boys standing there looking at me. I catch Asher's eyes and I give him a small smile.
"You cleaned up nice," I say honestly. He is wearing a classic black suit with his brown hair styled back.
"You look gorgeous Cahill," he says staring at my eyes deeply.
"Okay love birds if you both are done I would like to get this stupid thing over with," Walker says. I have to admit he too does look good with his blue suit and hair combed.
A throat clearing snapped me out of my thoughts and I look back to see Zeke standing in the doorway staring at me. He brings out his hand for me to take and I look at it blankly. Looking behind me I meet Asher's eyes who has a small frown on his face. Once he sees me looking at him he gives me a small smile and squeezes my hand.
"See you at the party, I will be the guy in the black suit."
Smiling at him I let go of his hand and slowly take Zeke's outstretched hand.

"Enjoying the party?" Zeke says.
"If by enjoying the party you mean enjoying the free drinks then yes."
"How many of those have you had?"
"Eh, I lost count after five."
"Damn women how aren't you wasted yet."
"Jake and I used to have these chugging contests and whoever was the last person to get wasted won."
"Very mature."
I shrug and spin around in my chair to look at the crowd of people wearing grand dresses and clad with jewelry dancing.
"Want to dance?" He asks.
"Sure I guess we have to get used to this shit," I say while putting on my mask.
He wraps his arm around my waist and I wrap mine around his neck. That's when I notice his mask is a plain black which greatly contracts with my white one with designs on it.
"Your mom told me not to give up on you," I say out of the blue.
"Of course she did," he groans.
"Your different."
"What do you mean?"
"Your supposed to hate me aren't you but ever since I came here it seems as if you are more worried than angry."
"I think the drinks are-"
"Why am I marrying you?"
"Thea-"
"No, if Nicholas marries me then he will directly have it lawfully or he can completely ignore this marriage crap. He's the Tsar of a Russian Mafia, legal isn't even in his dictionary."
Instead of answering he drags me outside where we can be alone and not be disturbed. He shoves me outside and closes the balcony door behind him.
"Unless you're the one who came up with it. You suggested it didn't you? He didn't force this marriage on you-"
"Shut up!"
I suck in a breath and stare at him in shock. Grabbing my arm roughly he brings his face near mine and glares at me.
"You will be my wife and it isn't out of love or compassion, but out of pure hatred and greed. You asked why I am marrying you instead of the Tsar? Well, it's because he didn't want to deal with a whiny bitch like you. Unfortunately, I have to marry your sorry ass."
That's when I slapped his sorry face. "I don't care if you treat me like trash but there is a women in there who loves you with all her heart. She believes that her son she raised is still with her."
Slamming the door behind me I walk into the sea of people hoping I will disappear into them. I haven't seen Asher or Walker around so I decided to look for them. Trying not to bump into any people I slip my way around but like all my plans I fail.
"Well hello gorgeous."
Slowly I turn around to face the man behind me and give him a hard look.
"Look I really have to go-"
"Come on one dance, please."
"No."
"Please. Please. Please. Please-"
"Okay! One dance." I say.
He leads me to the dance floor and brings me closer to him by wrapping his arm around my waist.
"If your hand goes either north or south from this spot you will never touch anything again," I warn.
"You haven't changed much Cahill," he chuckles.
"How do-"
I gasp as he takes his mask off and I stare at up in shock.
"My hotness tends to leave people speechless, but I thought you would be different."
"Leo!"
