"What did you do?"

How had it only been hours ago that Y/N had found herself lying in Tom's embrace as she told him she would be his queen? That memory seemed like an eternity away as she stood frozen to her spot in the middle of his father's office, wondering if Tom would punish her for what she had done to the King.

But covered in the blood of the demon who had drawn him away from his soon-to-be Queen, Tom was almost shaking with anger directed solely at his father as he took in the sight before him. He had felt Y/N's fear before he heard her screams and that was all it had taken for him to flee from the cells in search for her immediately, uncaring of the fact that he wouldn't have the satisfaction of killing the misbehaving demon himself and instead leaving that job for Tessa to finish off.

"I should kill you for this," Tom seethed, stepping further into the room as his father began to recover from whatever Y/N had done to him, "How dare you threaten Y/N when I've told you she is under my protection?"

Tom didn't wait for a response, instead he moved so that he was shielding Y/N from his father's view and ushered her out of the room, keeping her close to his side at all times as he left his father with his still-unconscious dogs alone in the room. Y/N could feel his anger coming off him in waves and she realised, he wore it like a cape that he was all to comfortable and used to.

She couldn't decide how she felt about Tom in that moment.

She was both scared and relieved of his presence. In a state of constant unease as he marched her away from the King's office, she didn't dare to breathe a word in fear that Tom may lash out and take his frustrations out on her.

And he too could sense every emotion rolling off his Queen. He was used to sensing the fear and unease of almost everyone who was in his presence but he hated feeling it from her; he hated that he was the cause of it. But there was nothing he could do about it, just the thought of Y/N alone with his father made Tom want to bring the very walls of his kingdom down. He was fuelled by a desire for blood and revenge that he knew couldn't be quenched until he was made King officially.

While he had made it more than clear that he was stronger than his father in every way, until he was made King there was no way for Tom to actively attack him until he had the crown on his head. It was an act of treason to kill the King and if it was to be found out that Tom had been the one to kill his father – which it almost definitely would – then it would send the kingdom into chaos.

No, he had to wait just a few days longer until he had his true title with Y/N at his side as his Queen. Then he would be able to do anything he wanted, make every decision. He could take revenge on the angels who had hurt his Queen when she was on that dreaded rooftop in Heaven. He could watch it crumble just because he wanted it to any day of the weak with just the snap of his fingers. Because while Heaven truly was a beautiful sight to behold, he would take pleasure in watching it burn.

Just thinking about the authority that he would soon inherit seemed to calm him and he felt Y/N relax as his anger slowly dwindled away. He pulled her closer to him to reassure her there was nothing to be afraid of and they walked in silence for the rest of the journey until they were in their chambers.

Y/N all but demanded that Tom take a shower and burn the clothes covered in blood once they were alone, not relenting until Tom let flames of fire lick their way across the material until it became nothing more than ash at his feet. While she had expected him to simply through the clothes in a pile and then set them alight, she couldn't deny the fact that watching Tom in the embrace of the flames was an incredible sight to behold.
