Yesterday I was given a tour of Hell by the devil himself. I wish that sentence wasn't real. Why is my life so weird? I mean, I've always been interested in Greek mythology, but I didn't want to be a part of it. Why was I brought here? I should probably ask that, as it's kind of important.
I open my bedroom door and call out for Hades.
I hear his voice behind me, "I knew you would call for me soon enough."
"Don't do that teleportation shit, it's creepy. And I only wanted you so I could ask you a question, so don't let it inflate your ego."
"Ask your question." He rolls his eyes.
"Why am I here?"
"Your mommy and daddy had sex."
"Not what I meant. Why am I here in hell with you?"
"You are here because you intrigued me and I wanted you."
"So, let me get this straight. You somehow found me, stalked me, and brought me here once I turned eighteen."
He nods.
I scoff, "how many others are here?"
"Only you."
"I'm supposed to believe that?"
I'm the only one he's taken?
"You can believe whatever you want, but that is the truth."
"How long did you watch me for?" I'm practically interrogating him at this point.
"Seven months."
"Why me?"
"You are sensational! Can't you feel the power running through your veins? It is not like anything I have ever seen. Have you seen what happens when you cry? It's amazing. I could go on all day."
I take a moment to soak in his answer. Me? Powerful? I can barely kick a soccer ball.
"I want to know more about you." I state.
"You should probably sit. I can talk for ages."
I plop down on the giant bed in the middle of the room.
He lays down next to me, uninvited and stats talking.
"You have probably read a lot about me, so I will skip that kind of stuff. To start, I love killing people. It is not part of my job description, but it is more of a hobby. I like the way their warm blood feels and tastes, ugh do not get me started. Of course I cannot actually bring people here to kill, so it is all a simulation. Anyways, I'm busy soul sorting a lot of the time, but I also really like video games. I love sex and anything sexual, although since Persephone it has all been simulated, which I hate to admit. Speaking of sex, I am also heavily into bdsm, hell, I invented it. I love art, I know we have that in common. Hm, let's see. I think I am a scorpio, my favorite food is macaroni and cheese, my favorite color is red-"
I cut him off, "okay, I think that's enough for now."
The most I learned from that is that he's a narcissist and he's very good at talking for a long time.
"Put on some better clothes and meet me in the hallway." He states, disappearing. I hate how he thinks it's okay to insult me. I guess I'll change anyways.
I put on a black sweater, black ripped jeans, and converse.
"Is this good enough?" I ask, not really caring, as I exit my room.
He looks me up and down, "It is fine. Let's go."
"Where exactly are we going?" I question, following him.
"We are going to introduce you to my brothers."
"Your brothers? As in like, Zeus and Poseidon?" I halt my walking.
"Mhm."
"Well if I knew that I would've dressed better!" I complain.
He grabs my hand and makes me continue walking.
"In my defense, I did tell you to change."
I don't know why I'm feeling so nervous right now. Well, I am meeting gods, but I have no problem being around Hades. Hell, I even talk back to him. Maybe it's because I know he likes me.
"Sara, I'm gonna need you to calm down, you are shaking." He states.
"Don't call me that. My name is Saraphine. The only person that called me that was-" I shake my head, "never mind. But please, call me by my full name."
"Who?"
"I don't want to talk about it."
"An ex boyfriend or something?"
"My sister used to call me Sara."
"You don't have a sister, it is just you, your brother, and your mom." He confidently says.
"She killed herself when I was 12, she was only 14." I state lowly.
"Oh, uh, I am sorry."
"It's fine, you don't have to pretend to care."
"I am not pretending, I really do care. I just have never had to show it before. We're here."
We stand in front of tall double doors. When he opens them, there is a large dining table, two men and a woman sitting at the farther end.
Hades motions for me to sit next to one of the men, and I comply. He sits at the head of the table.
"Poseidon, Zeus, Hera, I have call you here today to meet Saraphine." He states.
They all stare at me. I feel like a child next to them.
"Hades-" Poseidon starts.
Hades cuts him off, "Do not say it."
"Say what?" I wonder.
"That you're human, dear." The other woman in the room, Hera, says.
"I just do not see what is special about a mortal." Poseidon shrugs.
Um, rude.
"Perhaps I should not have invited you, brother." Hades calmly says, but I could tell he's getting mad.
"I should not have come, I did not realize I was invited to see a pathetic mortal." He chuckles.
Hades goes to stand, but Zeus puts his hand on his shoulder.
"Do not argue, brothers. I would like to know more about the living girl in the underworld."
"Go on, dear, introduce yourself." Hera encourages.
I hesitate before speaking, "I'm Saraphine Jones, I'm eighteen years old, I have a brother and a mom, I'm an artist, and I was kidnapped and brought here."
All of the gods glare at the head of the table.
Hades puts his hands up, "I did not bring her here for no good reason! Tell them what you can do."
I immediately know what he's referring to.
"I'm not sure what you mean." I fake innocence.
"Oh really?" He fumes.
I keep quiet, the hint of a smirk on my face.
"Do I have to make you show them?" He threatens.
I sigh, "I cry blood. It's not a big deal."
"See! She is different, she is special."
"Hades," Zeus explains, "you can not kidnap a living girl and bring her to the land of the dead just because she bleeds when she cries."
"First of all, I did not kidnap her. Second, she is not just any other human, she is different. I would like you three to leave now. Thank you for your time." He tells them.
Zeus and Hera are immediately gone.
"Be careful, brother, we would not want anything bad to happen." Poseidon states, disappearing.
I sigh, resting my face in my hands.
"Listen Saraphine, I am sorry if I upset you."
"Can I go back to my room now?" I murmer.
"You have a whole palace and you want to stay caged up in your room all day and night?"
"Yep."
I leave him there and walk out of the room. I realize after about two seconds that it was a stupid idea because I have no idea where I'm going. I sigh, walking back into the room.
He laughs at me.
"Stop it, I don't know my way around." I whine.
"Come on darling," he chuckles, his hand on my back guiding me out the door.
