Defending the emperors name

Part 3

As I slept I had a dream, well a nightmare really. I found myself back in my home with my children and my wife. We were at the table it was about two o'clock in the afternoon. My son asked me what the flash outside was. as I looked out my window I saw a large mushroom cloud erupt from the middle of the city. The blast wave was approaching and i told my family to run to the basement I ran and my family followed close behind me. My daughter fell and my wife had my son in her arms and she went back to try and help my Daughter up. I kept running for the basement. As i made it to the door I noticed my family had hid under the table. I urged them to run for the basement but they stayed where they were and my wife said go ahead we'll be fine, then mouthed the words i love you to me. I closed the iron door to the basement then I heard the crashing of the windows breaking though out the house and I heard horrified screams coming from upstairs. I jolted up and realized I had screamed "NO!!" And woke up the marine sleeping next me.

"What wrong are you okay?" The marine asked

"I just had a nightmare.. Im fine" I'm answered

"Was it a flashback about your family? Cause i know how those feel i get them all the time"

"Yeah... Actually it was they died back during the heresy, I get nightmares like that all the time"

"Don't worry i get them too my family was killed by the orks in our first war against them"

"I'm sorry to hear that"

"Don't worry about it, I'm Hailey by the way"

"I'm Sigmus it's a pleasure to meet you"

"The pleasures all mine" she smiled as she said that "now try and get some sleep okay?"

"I will do my best, goodnight"

I settled in and then got back to sleep. I woke up in the morning and went to have breakfast with the other marines. Hailey must have saw me because I remembered her voice. "Hey sigmus" I headed her call. This is the first time I actually saw her, and damn she was beautiful.. She was one of the most beautiful girls I had ever seen I walked over and sat next her. We didn't really talk much she just asked a few questions about me which answered and then asked her the same questions she asked me. After breakfast we packed up all our supplies and got ready to head for the manufactorium. We made it a little more than half way there before we saw in the distance some ork defenses we all stopped in our tracks and set up our defense lines with our two heavy bolters and we got ready for a firefight. I was keeping a look out for any trouble when i saw a door open in the ork defenses and I caught a glimpse of a few million orks fully armed and a few thousand of them piled out of the door and open fired on our position. As that happened I saw one marine take about ten shots to the head and hit the ground with a loud thump. The heavy bolters opened fire on the orks and right of the bat killed about forty or fifty orks and then maybe five hundred more but then they ran out of ammunition and all we had left were our bolters and bolt pistols. I downed a few more orks before I heard the word I had been hoping wouldn't be uttered "WAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!" And a little less than a few million orks chared at our position. They didn't care that they were being shot down left and right all they cared about was ridding the world of us. As my bolter ran out of ammo I drew my thunder hammer and set my bolter on my back. I then drew my bold pistol. I charged into the orks firing my bolt pistol i killed five orks then I swung my thunder hammer at one of the orks and his head blew open into a flurry of sparks and blood I did this a few more times and then looked to my left. I saw one other marine have both his arms ripped from his body by an ork and then decapitated by his axe. I continued killing as many orks ask could the I looked forward to see that Hailey was about to lose the close combat she got herself into, so I flung myself in front of the orks' weapon and was knocked unconscious by the blow. I woke up after what seemed like a few hours and found myself seeing two live raven guard and two million dead orks.
