I continued looking at the entrance to the stronghold and the door burst open. I then pulled out my bolter and began firing randomly into the orks. Only a few more went down and then I knew we were dead, but then I saw 6 drop pods land behind the ork defense line. I continued firing my bolter into the orks and buying some time until the reinforcements got to our position. After I ran out of ammunition I knew that we were still going to die. So I stared straight into the ork onslaught. I readied myself for death. Soon after that I saw one lightning claw go straight through an orks chest. As the claw was pulled out the body of the ork and Kayvaan Shrike The hero of our chapter was standing there. After that the rest of the reinforcements arrived they began to gun down orks left and right. A dreadnought began to fire into the orks and killed many more orks. I re-loaded my bolter and continued firing into the orks and Hailey began to do the same. The orks had taken out many of our raven guard. The firefight continued the orks eventually stopped firing. We knew this was going to happen eventually. The same bone chilling word was uttered for what we hoped would be the last time. "WAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!" The orks charged and we fired into the orks killing hundreds of orks as they charged. After that we all charged into the orks. I swung my thunder blindly into the ork onslaught and killed two orks who's heads looked like they had never been there in the first place. More and more orks began to pile in. As one jumped through the air I readied myself to swing but it was shot down in mid air. I ran deeper into the sea of orks and as I did so struck down as many orks as I possibly could. I stopped running after I had gone a bit further and continued smashing the orks. I saw many of my battle brothers struck down in the heat of the fight, I'm not sure how many have died so far because I wasn't really able to see much of the other parts of the battle accept for the part I was fighting in. I continued fighting, and I was focused on what was happening in front of me not behind me. So there was no way for me to tell if someone were to come up behind me. As I continued looking forward I didn't notice that an ork running at me from behind. He got closer and closer with his axe raised ready strike me down.
