CHAPTER FOURTEEN

Tina’s POV

Everything moved in slow motion as the medics rushed around the corner. I was in a sort of daze as the police took me away from Louis, sitting me in one of the cars while the medics brought Louis back to life. I’m fairly certain his heart stopped. Everything was slow like Jell-O, not much noise got through to me. As I was dragged to a police car, my eyes not once leaving Louis, I fell against the car, my legs giving out underneath me. I couldn’t take my eyes off of him. He was pale looking and weak. The pool of blood around him had grown even larger, soaking his used-to-be perfect clothes. His brown hair looked black against his forehead, soaked in sweat. He wasn’t moving.

The medics laid him flat on the ground. They stripped his pant leg and shirt away from him, cutting them down the middle, different people working on different parts of him. One lady connected him to a heart monitor, creating a weak beep, continuously going fast and faster, meaning his heartbeat was slowing down. Two other Medics began working on his stomach, covering it with bandages, attempting to stop the blood flow. Within seconds, the bandages were soaked through with blood. While that was happening, one person was working on his leg, doing the same. It didn’t soak through as quickly, as his stomach did.

A police officer stepped in my way of Louis.

“Miss?” he asked me. I tore my tear stained eyes from where Louis used to be in my view. The officer was tall, broad built, and handsome. He had close cute brown hair with dark blue eyes. He looked like a nice man, maybe 25 or 30. “The EMTs would like to take a look at you, to check your vitals.” I silently nodded at him. He helped me off of the ground and guided me to the medics. I nodded thanks to him as one woman EMT took hold of me, guiding me to the ambulance. There was a white sheet over Jack, a red stain where the bullet pierced his chest.

I stared at the woman as she checked my blood pressure, and performed other regular procedures. I felt this whole start to develop in me. I don’t know why but losing Louis was worse than him cheating on me. If he cheated on me, at least he was still alive, but now… I felt my heart being torn even more from that damn chain and weight just at the thought of him not permanently being in my life.

I was surprised when she started patching up my shoulder; apparently I had cut it somehow during the whole encounter.

“He’ll be fine.” The woman said. She was maybe 45 with lots of laughter lines around her eyes. Her eyes were intently concentrated on checking me, but were also a gorgeous dark purple, it was something I’d never seen before. That was the most beautiful feature about her. Her hair was pulled into a tight not at the nape of her neck, brown and graying, but she didn’t die her hair. She had a kind looking face, a gentle one with age. She had careful hands that were warm and welcoming to the touch. I instantly found comfort with this woman.

“How do you know?” I croaked out.

The EMT looked up at with those mysterious dark purple eyes with a slight smile. “I have a feeling, you have nothing to worry about.” With that she disappeared around the ambulance. At this time I returned to my daze as Louis was lifted into the ambulance. I was escorted out by a policeman and taken to the front of the hospital in a police car; the same man took me to my room as a very confused looking Rae was wheeled out on her bed with her family.
