jungkook had been in 6 different bathrooms to look for jimin and his lungs felt like they were burning. he ignored the desperate cries of his name coming from behind and it bleared out into the sound of jimin sobbing, on his own, in a public bathroom.

grunting in frustration, he picked up his pace. he had to get to jimin and he had to get to him now. the bathrooms were just to the left of him and with heavy wheezes he found himself barging through the door.

the bathroom was empty, thank god. what a sight it would be for a urinating male to see an out of breath, red faced jungkook piling in.

distressed and with a manic haste he started banging on all the cubicle doors, watching as they pushed open and not reveal jimin. the boy would always keep his cubicle door unlocked, especially in times when he needed someone so when jungkook knocked on the second to last door and it spilled open to reveal jimin hunched over himself, hands to his mouth hiding his sobs and in an attempt to stop hyperventilating, jungkook immediately fell to his knees to bring the other tightly in his arms.

he could breathe now. jimin would be absolutely fine because he had jungkook. and that's all they needed. if they had each other, they wouldn't need anyone else.

Jeon Jungkook
&
Park Jimin
are now in conversation

the shuddering breaths of jimin's were erratic and it would take an awfully long time for him to calm. but it didn't matter, jungkook would stay until his heart was fixed again.

"It's okay. I'm here now. I'm sorry, Jiminie. I'm so, so, sorry."

"Jungkook-"

"Shhh."

"Jungkook he doesn't love me."

the tears were heavy on jungkook's coat and it reminded him of how heavy the others heart must have felt. nobody was there for him. jungkook had completely forgotten about him in the moments he was with taehyung.

"It is more his loss than yours."

"Then why does my heart hurt so much?"

"If I was the one who didn't lose the most important thing in my life, why am I sat here l-like this?"

"Shhhh."

the hand that wound itself up in jimin's hair, held a clump tightly before releasing and smoothing it down again. he knew from previous events this always calmed jimin down, just how a soothing petting to his back did for jungkook.

"Y-you're the only one... who cares."

"Don't say that-"

"It's true! And- and I thought.... I thought you... you forgot... about- about me."

"I- I thought I was going... I was alone. B-but I'm not. And y-you're here. And I love you so much jungkook."

"Love you too."

jimin pulled backwards with a red blotchy face. Smiling gratefully at his best friend. he could see that the boy had rushed to see him by the way sweat shined his face.

"..."

"..."

a hand ghosted jungkook's face softly  and the boy's eyes fell shut in bliss. how could jimin be so blind? carefully he moved in so their foreheads were touching, a move that was common in times of need between the two friends.

"..."

"..."

jimin was lonely, desperate and in need of attention. his heart had been shattered by the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with but the person who he had spent his whole life with sat in front of him, eyes glossed with pained tears because his best friend just lost a piece of his heart.

the elder knew jungkook would do anything for him if it meant he felt better and maybe that's why he did what he did next.

he carefully licked his dry lips before rubbing his slightly wet nose- from the tears- against jungkook's.

"I'm sorry."

he murmured, his breath hot against jungkook's face.

inching closer, and closer, his lips finally met jungkook's an eruption of safety and blinding euphoria seizing his brain and he could just forget. forget the way yoongi did this to Hoseok, forget the way he wished he was in the latters place.

but euphoric moments never last.
that's what he learnt.

"Oh."
