Valerie's hand ran through the soft, white fur of Aurora who was sitting next to her on the couch. She had taken care of the dead man, cleaning and dressing him with thick gloves on before dumping him onto the side of a building under the cover of nightfall. Since Vegas was always alive with people, it was hard to be discreet about hiding her bodies. Or at least hiding them in plain sight that is.

She would usually have to use a strong metal arm underneath her jacket to carry the body bag quickly as the arm was doing all the work. She had made the metal arm herself when she was bored and it served her well. She would only ever dump the body in areas that no one would see her at or where no one was at for the time being. She tried to hack into most of the cameras that could possibly be nearby, momentarily replaying the footage to give her enough time to finish her work and get at least fifty feet away from the scene. This became a natural thing for Valerie. Something she could easily do without any risk.

The first time Valerie had placed a body somewhere was with her father. Not that she had killed her father, he neglected her but she could never kill him. He was making sure that Valerie wouldn't get caught for killing her first "friend". They made it look like he'd died through something other than a knife wound, hitting his head against a rail and sticking something into where she'd slit his throat, putting him face down on the ground.

Back then she was scared of the feeling she'd had through stabbing her "friend". She was scared of herself from getting enjoyment. She thought of herself as a monster and even now she still sees herself as such. She never killed anyone else until later in life when she was living by herself in her house. Her stomach twisted in disgust with herself. Why wasn't she scared of what she was turning into? Did she already turn too apathetic to care?

Aurora laid her large head into Valerie's lap as she continued to stare into space. Her thoughts halted as she looked down at the whimpering dog who's eyes were holding concern for Valerie. Concern...for a monster.

Valerie felt a tear prick her eye and instantly tried to hold it back. She rubbed her hand along Aurora's head, scratching behind her ears to try to cheer her up. Aurora continued to whimper, sitting up on her hind legs and placing each paw on her shoulders. Valerie was surprised by this gesture and wrapped her arms around the dog, careful not to be too harsh or needy. Affection like this was something Valerie had only had a few times before.

Aurora's warm tongue met Valerie's cheek, leaving a wet kiss. Her black nose touched Valerie's cheek, leaving another wet spot. Valerie took in the fluffy dog's warmth and affection, tears rolling out onto the dog's fur. Aurora licked Valerie's tears away as they fell from her eyes, causing Valerie to fall more in love with her.

"Getting familiar?" Sebastian's voice came from the side of the couch. Valerie turned her face, forcing her tears to a stop which luckily worked, Aurora still licking Valerie's cheeks despite the tears stopping. Valerie gave a light, airy smile to the male. He had a white t-shirt on from under his casual coat, water leaving places where Valerie could see the shape of his abs through. They had washed Aurora and he had been using her office computer to make flyers for Aurora.

"Yeah," she rubbed Aurora's sides, eyes still on Sebastian. His hair was also wet, the usual fluffy hair being split and he had obviously run a hand through his hair to make it go how he wanted it. A few hairs had escaped and were laying against his forehead in an arch. He was terribly attractive in any state, Valerie could swear that he was even attractive when sweaty. She hugged Aurora again, leaning on the dog for support to not fall for this male. "Do we have to ask who's she is? If they lost her, they weren't taking good enough care of her," Valerie turned back towards Sebastian with her bottom lip poked out. "I'd take good care of her. I've already given her a steak so she's basically mine."
