Empress Murong Huohui
• Eldest daughter of Prime Minister Murong Canren
• Her birth mother, Baili Leng Hua, has left soon after she has given birth, leaving Huohui to be raised mainly by her paternal grandmother, Mu Shanliang
• When she was a 15-year old, she got married to Crown Prince Li Henxin and was granted with the title 'Crown Princess' (main wife)
• 2 years later, he became Emperor Li Henxin of Kingdom of Dan when the previous Emperor abdicated his throne to concentrate on enlightenment and, being the Crown Princess, she was granted with the title 'Empress'
• Though she is the Empress, the one who held the most power inside the harem is Imperial Noble Consort Jing Duji (secondary wife) because the Emperor favours her most
• A graceful and soft spoken person, she always stays put inside her own palace, Broken Jade Palace, only to come out whenever there's official ceremony and/or banquet that needed her attendance
• Her father never really bothers when it comes to her matters, this made the Emperor treated her not too well over the years since they are married
• She only has a eunuch, a personal maidservant and less than 10 servants serving her Palace but all of them are fiercely loyal to her because of her kind nature

Emperor Baili Leng Hua
• The birth mother of Empress Murong Huohui
• Comes from the Kingdom of Ni where females are much more privileged than the males
• She has to leave her kingdom and stay hidden in the neighbouring kingdom, Kingdom of Dan, when there are power struggles in between her parents where her father led the rebels so that males can take over the power in their kingdom
• Met Prime Minister Murong Canren and married him as his main wife while hiding her real identity
• She only returned when her mother is gravely injured by her father to take over the fight in between her mother's royal armies, Golden Lotus Batallion, and her father's rebel group
• Become the Emperor when she defeated and captured her father and his rebel armies of men
• Her mother, the late Emperor Baili Kunao, killed her father, Consort Rouruan, in his jail before killing her own self. Ironically, her mother loved her father too much and would rather kill him with her own bare hands
• After much deliberation, she declared that, in their kingdom, men and women alike are allowed to hold important posts in their kingdom if they passed the Annual Royal Examination and will be equally treated with the equal chance given to both genders
• This resulted in the Kingdom to flourish and become one of the richest kingdoms for 20 years now but, this Kingdom preferred to stay isolated due to their uniqueness

Young Lord Baili Wangji
• Daughter of Lord Baili Xinsheng (and Emperor Li Henxin)
• Known for her cold personality
• Will kill anyone who steps in her way
• A filial daughter/granddaughter

Emperor Li Henxin
• Very cold in nature and calculating towards others
• Neglects Empress Murong (but pampered Imperial Noble Consort Jing because of her father's growing influence in the Court)
• Have a lukewarm relationship with Prime Minister Murong due to the latter openly supports his half-brother, Third Prince Li Zhufu (Zhao Wangye)

Prime Minister Murong Canren
• A bitter man after being left by his wife
• Treated his oldest (legitimate) daughter with indifference
