A pressing three weeks have passed since esteemed Ministry Auror Johnathan Stark disappeared from an unknown location near his home in Manchester on Friday, the second of the month.
Extensive searching by both ministry and muggle officials in the greater Manchester area have been ineffective and the ministry now presumes that an unknown occurrence has lead to Stark's death. Although a body has not been recovered as of yet, Minister Minchum believes that foul play was not involved in the Auror's disappearance.
Eyewitnesses at the Ministry of Magic account that Stark left his office early that Friday afternoon, an uncommon occurrence according to other Ministry personnel. However, when Stark failed to return home that evening, his wife Florence Stark informed the ministry that she suspected something had happened to her husband.
When asked by the Daily Prophet, Mrs. Stark refused to speak on the situation.
Early yesterday morning, the Ministry of Magic called off their extensive search for the Auror and officially presumed his death. Minister Minchum has yet to speak upon any further details.
Perhaps a more controversial theory on the matter is Stark's alleged altercations with the followers of former dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald.
It was well known by members of the wizarding community that Stark had ties with a known dark wizard, Arcturus Vaughan, in his years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry when they were both members of the Slytherin house. It is also confirmed that these ties remained after their departure following the end of their seventh year.
Despite the suspicions that he is still an avid practicer of dark magic, no allegations against him were ever proved to be true. Although Vaughan spent nearly five years in Azkaban for the use of dark magic, Stark was never accused of nor charged with any crimes against him.
With the suspected rise of a new dark force, and the vague details of Stark's disappearance, perhaps he is after all in the practice of dark magic.
