Broken Glass

The dark wood door creaked in protest as I slid inside the room. In a flash, I closed it behind me again, leaning up against the firm wood with a sigh.

After allowing myself a minute to gather my thoughts, I looked around the room. It was obviously Cole's and if I didn't know that, the stone and earth decor made it obvious.

I plopped my bag down on the floor and smiled. Pictures and posters hung all over the room of earthy nature scenes and a huge fridge lay embedded in the wall with all kinds of assorted foods. I snagged a bowl of noodles and slurped at the dish as I continued to make my way around the room. On the night-stand beside his bed lay a lamp and what looked to be a picture. I sat, and took it in my hand.

It was me.

How cliche.

I huffed and slid further onto the bed, noodle bowl suddenly discarded where the picture was just before. The picture was the one of Cole, Lloyd, and I, me on Cole's shoulders and Lloyd behind us pouting in the rain. A smile crept across my face, and I shifted further back on the bed.

And then the bed fell from under me.

I yelped, horrified as I landed with a thud in the dark and the picture frame smashed to pieces beside me.

What the actual heck.

I sat up and rubbed my head, and with a glance I looked up to where Cole's bed sat fixated above my head. A trap door?

I closed my eyes tight, then opened them again, as if some part of me thought I still wouldn't be down here. No luck.

"Hello?" I muttered, wondering if I yelled loud enough someone would find me. But then again, that wouldn't be good either, because what if it wasn't the ninja who found me?

"JAY!" I yelled anyways, wanting out of here immediately. It was too dark to see much of anything, and there was no way out. Just my luck. I buried my face in my hands as the floor boards groaned above me. Muffled voices rang out and I looked up again with hope.

A voice laughed, and said something about a lock red? No. That wasn't right. Rock bed?

They were above me!

"Jay? Cole!" I tried again and stood, glass crunching under my feet. The voices silenced and the sounds of movement stopped. It wasn't them. It wasn't my brother. It wasn't Cole.

Suddenly, the bed flipped again and I was thrown to the ground. Mutters of "ow"s and whimpers rang out and I sucked in tears. Someone had landed on top of me, and pushed my arm into the glass shards. I felt warm blood trickle down my elbow and I tried to push the person off, but to no avail.

"Please... Please get off me.." I pleaded and the pressure was released from my back.

"Y/N?" A voice called, which sounded like Lloyd.

"Lloyd...?" I mused, trying my best to stand up without pushing more glass into my skin.

A light flickered on somewhere and we all blinked at the sudden harsh light.

"Y/N!" A happy shriek came from my brother as he tackled me into a hug.

It was them. I smiled into Jay's hoodie and waved softly at the boys who stood behind us, smiling faces lit up by the fire Kai held.

"Thank everything holy you guys found me, because I was getting pretty freaked out here alone." I laughed and shook my head as a feeling of relief washed over me. A happy sigh escaped my lips as Jay retreated from the hug.

"You got here safe?"

"How was the boat ride?"

"What's the broken glass from?"

"Um.. you're bleeding."

My eyes widened at the sudden barrage of questions and I had to take a second to think before answering all the questions.

"Um, yeah. I'm here! Yayyyy..." I drew out the word, made it sound like I really wasn't excited. "So far, I'm not enjoying my trip to this damp hole. I slept on the boat ride, twas a good nap." I joked, cracking a smile to make the boys feel better. I turned to Cole, to answer his question. "About that... I came into your room and was looking at your picture-" his face grew red, but I wouldn't have noticed because I was busy staring at my shoes and the glass that lay scattered around them. I rubbed the back of my neck awkwardly. "-And the bed fell from under me and it broke when I fell." Lloyd stooped to pick up the wrinkled picture from behind him, and returned it to Cole. "Sorry..." I muttered as he shrugged it off and gave me a gentle reassuring smile.

His soft brown eyes glanced me over before growing wide. His hands found his shirt and he ripped off a piece-ps, holy crap how cliche, but how manly does one have to be to rip a shirt? I will have to try that out sometime in my free time.

I sharp pain ripped me from my thoughts as Cole gently removed the pieces of glass embedded in the top layer of my skin, then he wrapped the piece of shirt around my raw and bloody arm. I winced, and my teeth ground together, but he was done quickly.

Behind him. Kai elbowed an annoyed looking Jay who rolled his eyes in response.

"Someone's accident prone." Kai quipped and a shot him a glare.

Then came the real question:

"So... how do we get out?"
