Hunting, it has come from a long line of people. Most of which are not related. It has been in the game since presumably before the 20th century. It began when ordinary humans believed in the supernatural and began hunting them down to protect normal people. That was when they became what we know as 'hunters'. As far as hunters know some monsters exist while some just stick to being fake. For some, hunting is all they know, they were raised and trained into it. Some people are brought into it later in life. They'll encounter something that changes them forever. Some people make it their life mission, some do it as a side job, but all take it seriously.
Hunting isn't a game, it's a life or death job and if you don't know what you're up against and in way over your head, you'll end up dead. Always keep up with your research, even if you think you know everything. These creatures will rip you a new one just because you got cocky.
Never surrender to the enemy, once they get ahold of you, you are royally screwed. It's pretty common that if a demon possess you, you will die and unless you're Sam or Dean Winchester, you won't come back. Good luck my Hunter for you are walking the line of life or death.
