As a child,

We're told to make a wish

On a shooting star.

As a teenager,

We're told to make a wish

At 11:11 A.M. and 11:11 P.M.

As an adult,

We're told wishes

Don't come true.

If only we knew,

That life is not

A wish-granting factory.
