Rescued but broken

It had been 3 months since Kanan and Ezra had been captured by the empire and Hera couldn't take going on missions anymore. All she did was stay in her room or in the cock pit trying to pull herself together.
Sabine ran in interrupting her thoughts. "HERA!!!" She screamed happily. "We think we might have found where they're keeping Ezra and Kanan!"
Hera's eyes widened and jumped up.
"Well what are we waiting for!? Tell me!?" She demanded but her expression dropped when she found out where they were heading.
"We need to hurry... Kanan told me that place is where Jedi go to die.." Hera sighed and set course for where they thought Kanan and Ezra were located.

//meanwhile with Ezra and Kanan//

Ezra whimpered while sat in the corner shaking like mad. He and his father had been moved into cells opposite one another to make the torture harder.
Kanan limped up to the front of his cell and couldn't see Ezra. "Ezzy.. are you there..?" He said softly to not scare Ezra.
Ezra crawled to the edge and reached for kanan. He opened his mouth and tried to speak but nothing came out.
Kanan held Ezra's hand. "Don't worry, I'm sure they crew will find ya soon.. just hang on a little longer ok..?" He whispered and let go as he saw a trooper come up.
"No holding hands.." he growled standing on Ezra's hand.
Ezra cried out in pain and ran back to the corner of his cell. 'I wanna go home..' he said through the force to Kanan.
'Don't worry Ej, as soon as we get out I'll never let you go again..' Kanan said sighing looking over to Ezra's cell not seeing them.
One of the troopers grabbed Kanan. "Come on your going to be interrogated again along with that little brat.." the other trooper grabbed Ezra.
Ezra whimpered and looked at Kanan and what Kanan saw made his heart shatter. Ezra looked like he had been broken both inside and out.
After Kanan had been shocked they left him on the table and They forgot about Ezra.
Ezra crawled up the table and slapped Kanan's face to wake him up.
Kanan groaned and opened his eyes to see Ezra. "Ezzy?"
Ezra whimpered and held onto kanan.

//time skip//

Sabine helped Kanan walk back to the ship and set off one of her bombs.
Zeb was shooting the troopers to try and get them off their trail.
"Spector 5 to 2, we have Spector 1 and 6, get ready for take off!" Sabine shouted through the com as they entered the ghost soon going into hyperspace.
Hera ran into the med bay and saw kanan but no Ezra. "Zeb where's Ezra?"
Zeb sighed and pointed to the corner of the room. "The kid won't speak Hera.. I-I think they broke him.. they weren't in the same cell when we found them.."
Hera came up to Ezra and picked him up gently shushing him when he cried in fear. "Sweetie it's ok it's mummy.. your safe now... Shh..." she cooed but seemed to fail when Ezra didn't calm down.
Kanan groaned and woke up. He laughed bitterly. "At least there's a lot more colour here"
Hera ran over to Kanan and put Ezra at the end of the bed embracing Kanan. "Don't you ever do that again love!" She said
Kanan smiled and Zeb and Sabine went out to give them some space.
"Where's Ezra?" Kanan said worried. Hera beckoned to the end of the bed and Kanan's expression softened. "Ezzy, Come here buddy look it's just you me and Hera.. no troopers.. no shockers or anything.." he said softly opening his arms for Ezra.
Ezra whimpered and crawled into Kanan's embrace holding onto him tightly.
Hera sighed. "Kanan.. he's broken.. what happened in those three months..?"
Kanan sighed resting his head on top of Ezra's to calm him down.
"Well.. the first couple of days he was with me.. he looked like he was beaten by the troopers.. they then took me to a torture room but they tortured Ezra and made me watch.. it was horrible Hera.. Ezra looked in so much pain... after a month they realised it wasn't working so they separated us.. I never knew what they did to Ezra but he looked in pain and that he had been broken every time he came back.." Kanan whispered the last part and swallowed the lump in his throat.
Hera embraced Kanan and Ezra and teared up. "I should've come sooner I'm so sorry.." she cried into Kanan's shoulder.
Kanan held Ezra close and Hera. "Hera this isn't your fault.. don't beat yourself up..."
Hera sighed and held onto Kanan. "Your recovered enough to move Love, but Ezra.. he won't let us see him.." she looked at kanan and backed up.
Kanan sighed and held Ezra at arms length. "Ezzy if I hold your hand let Hera check you ok..?" He heard no response from Ezra and just nodded to Hera.
Hera sighed and began cleaning up Ezra's wounds shushing him when he whimpers. "It's ok Ezra.. you're never going back there ya hear?" She smiled at him when he looked up earning a tiny smile back. "There we go.." she finishes and gives Ezra his teddy.
Ezra held his teddy tight but remained silent. He nuzzled back into Kanan's embrace falling asleep.
Kanan sighed and ruffled his hair. "I think it's best if he moves back into my room... that way I can keep an eye on him.." he sighed and Hera nodded.
Hera sat next to Kanan. "They May have broken him but he will always be the same boy we took in all them years back.." She said and smiled at kanan who smiled back.
Kanan held Hera's hands and walked to the nose gun looking up at the stars.
Hera sat next to kanan leaning on his shoulder sighing. "I'm glad your back love.." she sighed falling asleep on his shoulder.
Kanan just smiled and wrapped his other arm around Hera resting his head on hers whilst his other arm was wrapped around Ezra tightly.
Ezra buried his face into Kanan's chest snuggling deeper into his embrace whimpering softly.
Kanan sighed and rubbed Ezra's back till he calmed down.
'I hope me and Hera and the rest of the crew will be able to help him..'
