The clock hands took twice as long to move. The time was slowing down as school came close to over. My eyes couldn't help but wander past the teacher to my phone in my backpack. My hand itched to reach for it, I just knew that my boyfriend had texted me. I must've missed so much with my friends just in this one class.
A bell rang and I was out of the classroom as tersely as possible without running or losing my composure. I walked straight to my locker, stopping in front of it so I could finally check my phone.
17 new messages ~ Father, Bff, BF <3, and 4 others
I scrolled through what my friends said first, homework, party coming up, no big news. All of my friends had to agree that I was particularly meticulous in keeping up with the latest news and getting the highest marks in almost every class. I was known at school for being the "Perfect Princess". Perfect grades, and spoiled enough to get anything that money could buy.
My phone beeped again showing another message from my dad. That was weird, he didn't normally text he after school, or at all really. I opened the message and saw that he wanted me home tomorrow, we were to have lunch with his business partners, they would all bring their family as well. I guess that's expected when your dad owns an international company.
I sighed just as an arm laced around my back and turned me to face the other way. Shocked, I hit the arm before looking and seeing who it belonged to.
"Ow.. Luce, what was that for?" My face slowly burned pink as I realized that I hit Natsu, my boyfriend.
"I am so sorry! Are you okay?"
He chuckled and pulled me closer into a hug, "Relax," he murmured into my ear, "You don't need to apologize. I'm fine."
I shrugged out of his hug and put in the combination to open my locker, "So, what were you texting me about?" I slid my books into my locker and grabbed my laptop bag that I had left there this morning.
"I have a surprise for you, c'mon." He shut my locker, grabbed my hand and started dragging me to his beat up truck all in one swift movement. I followed, having to pick up my pace because he was quicker when he was excited.
When we got to his car I tugged lightly on his scarf, he quickly turned around and I could see the irritation on his face. His scarf was an esoteric thing, it was more precious to him than almost anything. He sighed before nodding and crossing his arms in annoyance.
I squealed in delight which caused him to smile and look down at me with a loving expression. He took off his scarf and wrapped it around my neck. While he was still leaning down he lightly kissed my forehead causing my face to, once again, turn a bright scarlet.
Natsu motioned to his car with his head and we both slid into his deep red truck. We took off, him driving quicker than most cars and swerving around them to get to the arcade. I loved going there because I could be myself, no one there would care who I was.
As Natsu parked in front I saw a new shop next to the arcade. It said "Island 8" and had a picture of a pizza under it.
"Natsu.." I held out the end of his name and he blushed at the tone of my voice. "Can we go there?" I pointed to the new shop and I could see him vacillate before the euphoria showed on his face.
"Yeah Luce, let's go." I climbed out of the car slowly then hurried to catch up with Natsu as he'd already started walking to the shop.
When I stepped in I could see the vibrant colors, hear the laughing and the pop music playing over the speakers, and the smell.. It reminded me of when we went on a family trip to Italy, I had aspired to be able to cook such delicious food.
I walked ahead and a waitress led me and Natsu to a table where we could sit across from each other. This place, it was loud and much different than what I was used to, but at the same time, it was almost like a halcyon sanctuary.
"Natsu?" I asked tentatively.
"Yes? Is something wrong Luce?" Worry and concern was laced in his expression. Why did he have to be so dang cute?
"You see, I've never actually had a pizza.. What would you recommend?"
He chuckled before replying, "I know Luce, I was planning on bringing you here to get you one anyways. I think we'll start with pepperoni, not spicy and every pizza place serves it. Very popular."
"I love you Natsu."
"I love you too." He reached his hand across the table to hold my hand.
"Your pizza is here." We quickly separated our hands so she could set the pizza on the table. As she walked away I couldn't help but breathe in the smell and let out a sigh of delight. Natsu laughed again, this time louder than before.
"Natsu.." My voice came out much like a child's, high pitched and a bit whiny.
"Just eat the pizza." He grabbed the two plates that the waitress had left on the table and put a slice of pepperoni pizza on each of them before offering one to me.
I looked at it a bit skeptically before taking a small bite. My taste buds lit up at the combination of warm gooey cheese and the savory tomato sauce. "This is amazing!" I wolfed down the first slice then grabbed another.
"Thank you Natsu."
"You're welcome Lucy, you needed this." He smiled that smile that made my insides melt. I was lucky to have him.
I knew one thing for sure, this is not a stagnant relationship. I had a feeling that Natsu and I would last, like we were meant to be.
