"A-he-gao," my little sister repeated after me with a lifted eyebrow.
"Bingo, you got it!" Concussions were easier than getting Cris to repeat my whimsical anime terms that she heard from me.
"Don't forget you promised to take me shopping to forcing me to say that! Especially since I know what that means, K." For all her tough talk, she shivered with disgust at the thought of what she just said, and I could barely hold back my laughter.
God, she was a hilarious little twelve year old.
"Ha, okay, mini Cris-mas tree." I smirked as her face grew red and she punched my arm, yelling obscenities I would have repeated if I weren't laughing from a mixture of pain and humor.
Jovially, Cris dragged me to the car and started listing off every item she was forcing me purchase for her at the mall. "Kaiden would hate it if I didn't get him that GameStop whatever that was on his list, so we have to go there... and I wanted to get him a special figurine, so we have to go to that other shop... and..."
"Lovebirds," I snorted. "Mistletoe hanging above your head couldn't make you any more touchy-feely with him."
"Not true!! Of course, it's hard not to see how benevolent he is, but I do not drape myself all over that stupid nerd. Please shut up; he's right over there!"
Quietly, I looked over the iridescent snow that was piled on the sidewalks in front of the mall, blocking all but one way in. "Right you are, I can see Kaiden from here."
"So shut up," Cris glanced at him with a red face, "please, K."
"Tsundere," I muttered under my breath, flinching when her fist made contact with my stomach in a sucker punch. "Unless you go talk to him, he won't know you like him."
"Very funny. Why should I believe you?" Xerostomia took over my senses, making my mouth incredibly dry.
"You... why wouldn't you believe me? Zendiks you believe when they use their party tricks and say it's magic, yet you don't trust your own sister?" A hint of betrayal flashed on my face before I replaced it with a pout. "But don't you like him?"
Cris dropped her gaze to the snow at her feet and muttered, "-don't know... Easy for you to say so."
"For me... easy for me to say so? Geez, I've literally had one boyfriend for a few months and you think I'm a relationship expert?"
Her eyes met mine, a blush coating her abnormally pale cheeks. "I'm sorry, I assumed... nevermind... Just forget it. K, can we go?"
Lethargically, I nodded, gently taking her hand as I pulled her away from her crush and away from the mall where she wanted to do her shopping. "Merry Cris-mas?"
No sooner than the words left my mouth, she punched me as hard as she could, hitting my arm with a large amount of force that really stung. "Oh, shut up already."
Pouting never worked with her, and now was no exception as she laughed her way away from the mall and any signs of trouble.
