Lies and misunderstandings

Chapter 4

Adrien's POV

"Morning everyone," Miss Bustier greeted. "Today I have the honour of announcing that we have a new student joining our class for the last week. It is no other than every girl's idol, Daniel Render!" she said as she clapped excitedly. 

Ugh why him? Why did he have to pick this school out of all? why not go to a private school since he's so great.

"Hello, everybody. I am very pleased to be working with you. Please take good care of me" he said as he gave a bow, just like they do when people introduce themselves in schools in animes. Then his eyes wondered everywhere until they stopped at the sight of Marinette, as he winked at her. 

ugh, how nasty

I stared at him with evil eyes as he approached me and placed his hand on my shoulder.

"Nice to see you again, Ladybug's boyfriend," he whispered to my ear before walking to an empty seat

"wow," Alya started with her gossip, "was that just me or did our class celebrity just wink at you?"

"I really don't think it was just you, Alya. I saw it too..."Marinette replied surprised.

They both giggled behind me as I remembered the night I and Ladybug spent together the other day and smiled to myself.

"Ok class that's it for today. Remember to finish your final project with your partners at home" Miss Bustier reminded us before dismissing us.

"Guess I'll see you at your house tonight then," I said to Marinette as I packed my books in my bag.
"Y-Yeah, bye till then," she replied whilst stuttering a little, and I didn't know why. She then chased after her best friend, who ran off to interview Daniel for being a superhero.

*Knock*  *knock*

I smiled as Marinette welcomed me into her room.

"Adrien! Come in and make yourself comfortable. Would you like a snack, drink, coffee?"

"Hey," I said as I sat at her desk giggling. She sounded like a housewife to me. "I'll just have juice and some of your delicious cookies, please?" I begged with puppy eyes before placing my pen on my mouth. (it's a habit, okay? don't judge!)

Marinette blushed as she nodded before walking out of her room. I grinned at the thought of seeing her so shy. I laughed so much the pen dropped out of my mouth to the floor.

I bent down to grab it when something caught my eye under the table. It was a tiny cute little thing that seemed to be sleeping on a very small bed
Is that a kwami?  No way. Could Marinette possibly be... 

My train of thought was interrupted as the door opened and I quickly grabbed my pen and sat back up. 

"what were you doing down there?" Marinette looked at me curiously.

"N-Nothing. My pen just dropped on the floor." I gave an excuse. "Anyways, should we start?"

"No. we can't start just yet. We need to wait for Daniel, remember?"

ugh, I forgot, Miss Bustier put him together with us because he didn't have a partner.

Finally, Daniel arrived and sat in the other seat next to Marinette and they started discussing their ideas.

Is Marinette really Ladybug? Is that why she's acting so shyly around me? No, she's always been like that. She did say she was friends with Ladybug, maybe she was just taking care of her kwami? I need more proof. But how can I find it...

"...and then we can decorate the background to make it more attractive...What do you think, Adrien? Adrien? Adrien!" Marinette stopped my train of thought as she yelled my name softly.

"What? What were we talking about?" I asked embarrassed as I watched Daniel enjoying the moment.

"We were talking about the design...what is wrong with you, are you sure you're ok? You've been acting strangely in the last hour. Should we stop for today?" She asked concerned.

"Yeah I think we should, I'm not feeling too well, sorry"

"Well, what a shame," Daniel finally spoke as he put his arm around Marinette, making her blush before she moved the arm off her. I glared at him before exiting the room.

When I entered my room, I dropped on my bed face first. "Plagg I don't know what to do. Is she really Ladybug?" Plagg just shrugged his shoulders before putting a whole piece of camembert in his mouth. 

"If you want to know, then ask her" Plagg replied

Of course! how stupid of me. why didn't I think of that?!

I rushed and quickly grabbed my phone and dialled the number that Ladybug gave me.

"Hello? Adrien?" She picked up almost immediately as if she was expecting the call.

"Hello Ladybug, I need to speak to you. Right now?"

"Ok, I'll be there in five minutes"

Marinette's POV

I hopped from house to house in a hurry worried about Adrien.

Adrien was acting weird, maybe he called to open up to me. I'm coming, Adrien, just wait a little longer.

I knocked on Adrien's window and he came to open it after he heard.

"Hello Ladybug, please take a seat."

I sat on the couch and looked at him seriously, "is everything okay, Adrien?"

"well, I'm graduating next week..."

Crap I totally forgot! this year's gone really quickly. I can't believe I'll be going to college soon and that I'm already 18!

"And I want you to give me a graduation gift!" Adrien continued as he looked at me like a child.

I burst out laughing in relief. Adrien looked at me confused. "Why are you laughing?"

"No, it's just that you had me so worried, thinking something bad happened to you. And now, you're asking me for a gift?!" I paused to wipe away my tears before continuing. "So what can I get for the 'great have-it-all Adrien Agreste'?" I asked half-jokingly. But Adrien maintained his serious posture.

"I want to know the person behind that mask of yours"
