Exam Three

Today is the final exam for the chunin exams and I can't help, but feel as if something horrible is going to happen. Genma has been made proctor for this exam and I was told that another competitor had been killed. They aren't sure who killed him, but I know without a doubt who it was considering when he was killed. Dosu was a fool to provoke Gaara and Shukaku which he paid the price for and the price was his life. I woke up early this morning feeling horrible and I know it's because something devastating is going to happen today. I just worry that there is nothing I can do to prevent such a thing and that a large death toll will be all that's left.

I sigh before sliding my mask over my face and slip out of the house to go stand guard over the Hokage. Soon the Kazekage will be here as well to watch the exam with the Hokage. I'll be with another ninja up there which means should something happen there are two of us to defend the Hokage. I appear at the Hokage's side making my fellow ninja look at me before realising I'm an Anbu member.

"Hokage-sama how prepared are we for an attack? Something horrible is going to happen and we need all the people we can protecting the village and arena."

"We'll be fine Yuki. There is no need to worry about anything."

"That's not convincing ojii-san. I'll trust your judgment though and hopefully we'll all make it out alive."

He frowns at my choice of words before facing forward when the carriage holding the Kazekage comes forward. I wipe all emotion from my face despite the fact that no one can see my face. We all make our way to the arena before the Hokage sits down and I stand right behind him on edge as we wait. I can see the ninjas waiting for their turn to fight and show their skills making me give a small smile. Today I won't be rooting for anyone to fight because it seems since all of my friends will be in these battles against one another. That's when I notice Naru and Sasuke are missing from the bunch making me groan. These idiots are going to be disqualified if they are late is what runs through my head as the Hokage chuckles.

"Go ahead and go speak with them before the Kazekage arrives. Perhaps thee are a few you can motivate to actually participate."

I nod before teleporting down to the arena where Genma turns to me before raising an eyebrow. I give a cheeky smile he can't see before putting a finger up signalling to stay silent. He nods with a confused look, but let's me move forward nonetheless. Once their eyes are on me I pull my mask off setting it on top of my head. A few smirk knowing already that I'm a part of the Anbu while others maintain no expression. I stick my tongue out at Neji making him roll his eyes at my behaviour while I giggle.

"Just so you guys know I'm not rooting for anyone in these fights. You all will need to do your best, but try not to give me a heart attack, okay?"

"Troublesome woman why should we have to fight? It's such a drag."

"You're going to give a good fight because you made it this far."

I roll my eyes at him just as Naruto catapults into the arena making me heave a sigh. Sasuke is the only one not here which means Uncle Shi must have lost track of time again. I give Naruto a wave before going back upstairs to stand with the Hokage. Just a few seconds after I appear the Kazekage comes up the steps. Luckily, I had already slid my mask in place before he could come into view. I sense his chakra and tighten my hand on the Hokage's chair praying I'm wrong, but I can tell I'm not. Ojii-san looks up at me unable to read me with the mask hiding my face. I make a quick gesture letting him know that I've sensed an enemy making him look more serious. I make the most minuscule gesture towards the Kazekage and he looks confused.

"He's not who he seems. I won't be leaving your side today."

The Hokage looks worried for a second before masking his emotions and greets the Kazekage. The Kazekage greets the Hokage before his eyes lock on me making my stomach clench violently. I just blink and sense the smirk on the Kazekage's face putting me further on edge. The Hokage steps forward and I carefully keep out of view of the onlookers yet I'm close enough to stop an attack. My eyes flicker down to the participants and I give a soft smile as the Hokage speaks.
