The wolf was still creeping closer. I crouched down at the base of the tree. I began to think of everything, and everyone I'd miss, but all I could think about was Tanner. I left him. I promised I'd be back.
"I'm sorry Tanner." I said in a small voice. I glanced up to see the wolf about to pounce. my eyes widened and I hugged myself tighter. I closed my eyes again hoping that I wouldn't be in too much pain.
All of a sudden I heard something pierce through the air, the wolf whimper, then sounds of something running away through the forest.
I opened my eyes and cautiously stood. I then spun around to see Klif running towards me with a bow in hand.
"Brooke!!! You okay?! Did it hurt you?!" Klif asked question after question making sure I was okay.
"I'm fine, I promise!" I assured Klif.
"Okay, okay, but really Brooke! You could've died! You need to learn now to fight off creatures like that on your own. I'm not going to be there to save you every time."
"So what," I started, "a magical self defense master is just going to fall out of the sky and teach me?"
"I don't know about magical or a master, but I know someone who can teach you to be kick butt!" Klif said with a smirk
"Alright, who?" I said with a laugh
"Me."
