Penny found herself back at the bar that Friday night with another blind date. Jordan had promised that this guy was way better than the club owner. And boy was she right. He came walking in with such confidence and poise that Penny was already drooling.

They sat at a booth snacking on bread as he told stories of his time in Africa. Penny was in love already. He would talk about the children he nursed back to health, the wells he dug, and the schools he built. It was almost embarrassing to tell him that she worked in fashion and in no way helped the poor besides going to a homeless shelter on Christmas morning every year with her mom.

"Do you ever wear fur?" He asked.

"Well, I guess I have before. I don't that often, it's pretty expensive, but if it's something my boss has designed, I'll model it for her on the streets and instagram." Penny said not really thinking about it.

"What about animal rights?" He asked offended.

"Oh, I guess I've never thought about it." Penny replied honestly. The date had been going great before he brought this up.

"I'm sorry, but I need to leave. I can't be seen with someone who would wear the dead skin of a poor defenseless animal." With that he stood and stalked out. Penny watched him leave with a shocked look on her face.

"What was that all about?" Grant asked her, sliding into the vacated seat.

"He left because I've worn fur. He's quite the activist I guess." Penny pouted. She knew that dating was a two way street, but being rejected so easily over that was extremely hurtful.

"Did you need a drink to make you feel better?"

Penny nodded, "Yes please. A ru-"

"Rum and coke. I remember." Grant smiled and left to make her drink. When he came back he had his own drink in his hand.

"Sorry your date sucked." Grant said sympathetically.

"Ehh. It happens." Penny responded, "What are you drinking?"

"Scotch on the rocks with a twist." Grant replied, "It's the same drink my grandfather used to have."

"How sentimental." Penny said. They sat in silence for a moment of peace. Penny looked up to see Grant studying her face.

"What?" Penny asked, probably a little too defensive.

"Nothing. I was just wondering how someone as beautiful and successful as yourself is still single." Grant said, his eyes twinkling.

"Oh. I don't know. It's not like I have guys lining up to be with me."

"Are you sure about that?" Grant asked, Penny furrowed her eyebrows in confusion as to what he meant by that.

"Pretty sure. I should probably get going though." She said.

"Well, I get off in an hour. Maybe you'd like to go to dinner with me? If you're willing to stick around." Grant asked hopefully.

Penny spared a glance at his wedding ring sadly, "I think I'll just go to bed. Besides, I have a friend to call to complain about my date."

"Okay. Bye Penny." Grant said before not letting her pay for her drink again. Penny smiled gratefully before leaving.
