I Promise

Chapter 1

Celine

It was the summer before college. I still didn't know what college I wanted to attend to. I had multiple choices and it was hard to choose. The one of my dreams is three hours away and the one mom and dad wants me to go to is only 20 minutes.

I want to major in art. It's my passion besides singing and I love losing myself in a good painting. But growing up was kind of hard. My parents aren't together. But I'm happy to have my stepdad, Nick in my life. He's been nothing but a blessing. My mom did sit and tell me the story that went down because I didn't understand how she dates two dudes in one band. But I understood the situation. And honestly it's every fan girl's dream to bag two or more boys in the same band.

But it made me respect her more to follow her heart and respect herself more than anything. And that's something I've valued from her and Nick; confidence. I wish I had it though.

My dad. I love him don't get me wrong and I was definitely a daddy's girl growing up but.. when I found out what he did to mom it made me look at him differently. It definitely put a space in our relationship. So now I'm very close to my mom.

My phone rang and I looked to see Jake ❤️.

Jake❤️: Hey baby

Me: heyy 😘

Jake❤️: Are we still meeting tonight?

Me: of course ❤️ regular spot?

Jake❤️: Yes. See you tonight baby. I'll take you home.

I locked my phone and saw it was raining outside. I sighed at the weather and went downstairs. Mom was cooking dinner in the kitchen while Nick was playing Fortnite 4. Chloe, my little sister, was on her phone on the other couch.

"Stop playing that old ass game it's not cool anymore," I teased.

"I will ground your ass don't play with me," he groaned rolling his eyes and I laughed.

"Love this ain't nothing new. Me and Jewel used to be each other's company when the boys forever were playing fortnite. The original one," Mom smirked.

"I gave you attention though!" Nick spat and yelled as he lost.

"Never said you didn't babe," she smiled. "Jewel, Zion and Justin are coming over for dinner."

"Thank god I'm leaving then," I groaned.

"Why?" Nick asked.

"I'm meeting with Jake-"

"Still wanna beat his ass-"

"Nick," mom groaned quickly and he shrugged his shoulders.

"Don't like him. You deserve better," Nick replied.

"Ooop," Chloe spat raising her eyebrows.

I looked down and I felt my stomach turn. Jake and I have a tough history. He didn't cheat on me or anything but he did make me feel uncomfortable at times in the relationship. He can be a little mean and rude. But we're working through it.
