"Hey, Steve." "Pep! Whatcha doing?" "Falling in love with Tony Stark." "I know how you feel."

The look Pepper gave him was priceless. "I mean the falling in love part." Steve amended. "You are cute when you're flustered." Pepper laughed, not quite noticing Steve's little slip. "Hey Cap. Could you put in a good word?" Her face glowed with hope. "Ermmmmm sure Pep." Captain America walked out, flustered and, really quite annoyed. He was now playing matchmaker for Pepper and Stark.

"Potts? Really? Her?" Tony sounded, erm, less than thrilled. "Yea... is that not ok?" Stark glanced at Steve. "Whatever. Sure, I'll try and make a move." "You do seem excited," Cap remarked. "Chill, Capsicle. I'll deal." Steve flushed at the pet name and walked out. Why did he have to love Tony Stark? And more importantly, why did he have to think aloud?

"Why do I have to love Tony Stark?" Steve was muttering under his breath, just loud enough for Stark to hear. He loves me too? I... have to tell him. Unfortunately... "Hi, Stark!" "Hello, Potts." He drawled. "Watcha doin'?" she asked patiently. "I'm... prepping for an experiment. I'm so sorry, I'd love to talk. Really, I just... now isn't a good time. Sorry." "Oh... ok." Pep. Don't do it. Please. Ah... she did it. She just kissed Tony Stark.

Stark could taste the mango-coconut on her lips. It was both Pepper's and Tony's favorite flavor on... pretty much everything. He glanced at the door, where Steve had just been standing. He gulped. Steve, I didn't want this. But he looked at Pepper and knew. There's no going back now.

Contrary to popular opinion, Tony Stark was miserable. "Hey baby!" Pepper grinned. She was wearing a sapphire shirt and a white pencil skirt. Her eyes sparkled like a million diamonds and her hair was pinned up in an intricately woven crown braid. Tony gazed at her. Love? Heck no. Pep was his good friend, but love? Definitely not. Then again, Pepper didn't know that. She stood on her toes and pecked him on the lips. Over the top of her head, Steve and Tony locked gazes. "Am I interrupting?" Steve asked hesitantly. "No." Tony ripped away from Pepper and glanced at Steve.

Being in the restaurant with Pepper was hard enough, but breaking up with her there? Argh. Stark was not thrilled. "Pep... I can't do this anymore." Pepper looked after him wordlessly as he fled the building.

"Cap...I love you." "I love you too."
