It had been two months since Christen, Tobin, and Alex had been doing whatever they were doing. Christen thought you could call it dating but you typically don't hide the people you date.
She had asked to keep their relations to themselves because it was so unorthodox and so early that they hadn't even traded the girlfriend titles or even had sex. She had asked to go slow because she figured they were all new to the situation and thus needed time to figure out if this is actually what they all wanted. Christen needed assurance before they made things exclusive and did anything more than swap spit and let hands wander.
The problem with that was, she couldn't get much in terms of assurance from either Tobin or Alex. The NWSL season was in full swing and all of them played in different cities. Tobin and Alex already had a system in place where Tobin would fly out to see Alex, since their home in Orlando was more equipped for people to live there with actual food and furniture unlike Tobin's bachelor pad. The three of them had yet to figure out a way to incorporate Christen into the system except through FaceTime, but that was only but so satisfying.
The bad thing is, Christen had no one to blame but herself. She had insisted they take it slow, that they did not need to accommodate to see her the 3 times a month they made their getaways. It was all honestly starting to wear on her. Here she was, with two beautiful women, that she couldn't actually have.
If Christen was being honest with herself, she knew that the pressures of society had played a large part in her insistence of secrecy. Alex and Tobin never publicly addressed their relationship. She imagined the shitstorm they would be in as a lesbian triplet couple. She could see the headlines now and it made her head ache.
All she truly wanted was happiness and peace. Was that really too much to ask? At the very least, the national team had camp this week so she would be seeing her loves soon. Christen just knew she would have to rethink dome things to give her some peace of mind. She had been having these agonizing thoughts for a few weeks now and was just about over them. She went to bed with a clear goal for tomorrow that accompanied the good night texts from Alex and Tobin.
Christen's trip to Texas was relatively boring. She forgot her books which is all she really liked to do on planes. She got off the plane feeling incredibly fatigued. She had woken up early to get some practice shots in but she was regretting not saving it for later. Kelley and the many other guests of the plane had made it impossible to go to sleep on the plane with the various sounds they were making.
Kelley saw how tired Christen was and decided to take both of their suitcases in to the hotel while Christen found their room assignments.
Christen walked up to where Dawn sat in one of the lobby chairs and gave the blonde haired woman a tired smile and a half hug. "Hey Dawn, how you been these past couple of months?"
"Pretty good Press. Hope everything has been well for you these past couple months. Make sure you are getting some sleep to Pressy. I can see you dragging. We only have a short meeting today so clear your schedule and get some rest. You will be in room 282 on the second floor with Ashlyn."
"Ok, can you uh tell me Kelley's room assignment too?" Christen asked as she grabbed her keycard.
"Kelley will be rooming with Alex. You can take her key card if you like," Dawn said, completely oblivious to how Christen's heart skipped a bit at the latter name being mentioned.
Christen cleared her throat as she bid Dawn a good evening and passed Kelley her key card. She headed up the stairs to find the room still empty. She immediately unpacked her necessities and plopped down on the bed drifting fast asleep.
