Castiel
"Cas come on you're gonna be late!" a light woman's voice appeared from downstairs.
"Almost ready!", Cas said grabbing his trenchcoat and rushing into the bathroom to check on his hair once more. It was his first day in new high school so he was really nervous. One last look in the mirror to see his eyes red from not sleeping enough, a blue shirt on and tugged in a trenchcoat.
Hushing to the kitchen he grabbed the tuna sandwich his older sister Anna made him, bit into it and said "cmoun whe gottahgo" - with his mouth full. "thank you for the sandwich Anna" he thanked her while they went out the door to get to the car.
Seatbelts on, engine starting they started to drive to the new school.
Both of them had to move cities and even states very often the past 17 years, because of some family issues. He had older brothers, which he didn't have contact to, since his parents passed away. Only Anna stayed with Castiel, the youngest and most innocents of all the Novak's kids. They've moved to Austin a week ago, because they couldn't afford the rent in their other house anymore. Anna works as a baker and is currently searching for a new job in town. Castiel is searching for a part-time job as well, to get some extra money for his sister and himself. He'd maybe even work at the same place as his sister, to have a familiar soul around him.
"Okay, we're here. I wish you all the best and find some new friends, will ya?" Anna said.
"Pizza for dinner tonight?", and Cas nodded. He got out of the car to the smell of cigarettes and strong deodorant as a group of people walked past him. Packed with books he made his way through the entrance right to the principal's office. After three knocks and a couple of seconds waiting time he got called in.
"Ahhh, there you are. A bit late Mr. ..?
"Novak, Castiel Novak", he said as the principal told him to sit down. Mrs Rowena was her name and Castiel wondered, where that name came from. It sounded a bit strange to him, but she seemed to be nice.
"I'm sorry for being late. Traffic was horrible.", he apologized.
"No worries Mr Novak. It's your first day here at a new school, I'd understand if you're a bit nervous.", she started "I got a timetable for you, so you can see where your classes are, when you're having break and free time. I believe your first class for today is math, which should've started 20 minutes ago. If you'd like to join now, you can do that. Otherwise just wait in the library for your second class to start."
Castiel thought it'd impress her if he went to math class he's late to instead of skipping it, so he thanked her and went to his first class.
'Room 108...that has to be the first floor, 8th room...alright' he said to himself
The door stood open, the teacher was currently talking about some math stuff he didn't really listen to - because almost the whole class stared at Castiel.
When the teacher noticed he said, "Ah, Mr Novak! Glad you made it, the traffic was horrible this morning, so I understand that you're late. I'm sure you've already went to Principal Rowena?"
He nodded silently, as he waved him to come in front of the class. "Tell your new class a bit of yourself. I'm sure they'd love to get to know their new student."
A slight amount of panic came over him, as he saw all the faces staring at him. It had to be 30 students at least. Fumbling on his t shirt he started "My name is Castiel Novak, I'm 17 years old...love to read and i love maths." As soon as he started talking about himself 50% of the other students stopped listening and did something else. One girl with brown hair is suddenly totally interested in the gum she's chewing, the other one draws circles in her book and others would talk to one another. There was this guy in the back who was constantly staring at Castiel, like he was an alien or something like that. He was handsome, he thought. Blonde-brownish hair, a leather jacket and still staring. Once the teacher said "alright Castiel, sit wherever you want to, just try to catch up on what we were doing the last 20 minutes", he lost the staring-contest he had with that guy in the back.
***Lunchbreak***
He'd even got late to lunch, so all the delicious stuff was already taken. That's a thing Castiel could always manage to do. Being late. But as an apology, he had to search for the cafeteria a really long time, since he doesn't have anyone here to show him around. It'd been burger day he assumed, because everyone was having burgers. But the ones that came late like Cas did, were left over with salad. So he grabbed his lunch and searched for an empty table. He could kind of guess what the groups here are, and who's in them. There was one table who was full of Geeks, who had their noses stuck in books, discussing about school stuff. Then there was the cheerleader table. The girl from earlier, who played with her gum - seemed to be the captain of the cheerleader team. And the last one, right in the middle actually, was a table packed of guys in football jackets, caps on their heads and talking about cars and hot chicks. He assumed they were the leaders of this high school. It's been like that in the other schools he'd been before, everywhere there is one group who kind of leads everyone.
He walked towards a table with one free chair, to sit down and eat his not-so-good-looking salad.
"Sorry, you can't sit with us.", a girl with a very very high voice said and put her bag on the chair Castiel wanted to sit on.
He apologized and went to the last table in the right corner. Only like 2 people sat there, so he'd try to sit there without getting blocked away.
As he walked past the "cool guys" table, he tripped over a leg and landed on the floor, right onto his lunch. The whole cafeteria went silent.
"So you're good at math huh? Guess i'll take advantage of you sometimes then", a guy said leaning down to Cas and his friends started laughing. "By the way, nice trenchcoat you have there. Looks delicious.", he looked down on Castiels coat, to see salad sauce decorating it. Now the whole cafeteria started laughing.
"C'mon Chuck, it's enough.", an other voice said very calm. To which the other guys seemed to go quiet.
Castiel was still laying on the floor, covered in salad - as he heard that one of them was coming near him.
"Let me help you real quick, you're Castiel, huh?" the calm voice said as he reached for Castiels hand to help him get up.
"Y-yes, i'm sorry i bothered you guys.", Cas said stuttering as he looked into that bright green eyes the guy in front of him had. Catching himself staring too long, he walked past the guy and went outside the cafeteria to get himself cleaned up.
"I'm Dean by the way", the boy named Dean said quietly to himself, since Castiel was already too far away to hear him
