Today is the day! I am finally moving out on my own. I finish saying goodbye to my parents and hop into my fully packed car. I pull out of the driveway with the biggest smile on my face. I leave my hometown of Richmond and head to my new house in Vancouver. It's not that far from my parents, but far enough away where I can be independent.

After what seems like an eternity of driving due to evening traffic, I finally pull into my new house. It's not that big, but it's perfect! Definitely not as big as the house to the left of mine. I use my new keys to unlock the front door and as I enter my new house, I squeal from excitement. This is my house. It's all mine! I walk in and I'm in the living room. Beyond that is the kitchen. There's a hallway to the right and that leads to three bedrooms and a bathroom. My bedroom is the one at the very end of the hallway. It's the master bedroom and has its own bathroom. I'm so excited to move in, but that can wait until tomorrow. Until then, I just take all my boxes out of my car and put them in my living room.

I go back out to my car and decide to drive downtown and see what it has to offer. I park on the street and walk around for a while. I visit a couple shops and look around until I notice that it's getting pretty dark outside. I find my car and get in. I turn the key and nothing happens. Not again. My car can be unreliable at times, but it did get me all the way up here. I guess it decided to stop working for the day. I groan and get out. I guess I'll have to walk home. Perfect way to end my day. I zip my jacket up and begin walking.

I will admit, the city feels really creepy at night. But, no one else is really out on a Tuesday night. . . Right? I turn the corner, bump into someone, and scream.

"I'm so sorry." I say to the hooded stranger.

"No, it was my fault," He says. "I wasn't looking where I was going."

I look up and see the most beautiful blue eyes looking into my dark brown ones. Suddenly, I become really self concious of my appearance. I'm wearing ripped skinny jeans and a really old Blink 182 jacket. My curly light brown hair is probably a mess. I look back down to the ground.

"I don't think I've seen you around before." He says.

"Oh, I'm new here." I say.

"Nice," He says. "How are you liking Van City?"

"So far I love it," I say. "I just got here today."

"So, why are out walking the streets this late?"

"Well, I wasn't planning on it," I say. "My car broke down just down the street and so I thought I would walk home."

"That's not exactly the safest idea." He says.

"I know. But, so far you're the only person I've run into. Literally."

"How about I give you a ride home? My car is just right up here." He offers.

"Now, that doesn't sound safe either. I don't even know your name." I say.

"Josh Ramsay." He sticks out his hand and I shake it. "How about that ride?"

        "I guess so." I say.

I follow Josh to his car and we get in. He takes off his hood and I can't help but stare. He is super good looking and his hair is amazing. It's black with silver in the bangs and some streaks on the side. I snap out of it and give him directions to my house and try to keep quiet on the drive home. It's really awkward.

I tell Josh to turn down on my street.

"No way," Josh says. "I live on this street."

        "Really?"

"Yeah." He says as we continue to drive down the street.

"Okay, my house is on the right. It's the one story with the huge two story to the left."

"This is going to sound crazy, but that huge two story, that's mine."

        "That's your house? It's huge!" I say.

"Well, yeah. I live alone though."

        "Me too." I say.

        "Cool."

I look to Josh and he's already looking at me. He turns away.

"Well, thank you for the drive home," I say. "I guess we'll be seeing each other a lot."

        "Really?" He looks up.

        "Yeah. . . We're neighbors, remember?"

"Oh, yeah. Well, goodnight." He says.

"Thanks again." I say, getting out of his car.

"Wait," He says just as I'm about to shut the door. "I never got your name."

        "Azalea Grace Parker."

He smiles and then pulls into his driveway.

I go inside and can't help but smile myself.

I look around at my empty house and many boxes. With a sigh, a grab a few blankets and a pillow out of a box and head to my room. I wish I had furniture. I lay on my floor and look at my ceiling. Today was strange but, Josh seems really cool. And he's cute! And I have my own home in Vancouver. I'm excited to see where this adventure takes me.
