CH.1
The trip was long and boring, but we made it to Raindell. The house was small, a one story house with one bedroom, one bathroom, and an attic.
It was also old and about ten miles out of town. We have one neighbor who lives two miles down the dirt road from us, or should I say mud road.
Over all the house was in pretty good condition, just small and old. I surprisingly love the vegetation of the dense forest mountains. Oh and, yes I will be sleeping in the attic.
When we arrived at the house I studied the exterior. Dusty rose pink colored paint peeling off the bricks, a chimney, and a small shed. Great a chimney, that's a good sign.
"Jaklynn, why don't you take a look around the back before the truck gets here honey." My mom said in her sweet soft voice. "Alright, mommy, be back soon." I said as I started walking around the house.
In the back was a small yard with a cement patio, fire pit, and a rain cover in the center. The rest was grass leading back into the green mossy forest. I heard the truck pull in so I ran back to the front of the house to see mom signing papers as the movers unloaded our stuff onto the porch, and left.
"Mommy, I will go clean the attic, ok?" I told her while gathering up all the cleaning supplies. "Ok, sweetie, be careful." She replied as I shut the door behind me.
Great, a fireplace. It's freezing in here! I made my way down the hall, and opened the closet in which the stairs to the attic were. The stairs themselves where filthy, so I started there.
Once I was sure they where spotless, I went up in the room. It was a good size, with a window looking out the back yard and a great view of the forest. I cleaned the window, dusted the ceiling, and swept and moped the smooth red wood floor. I also just had to wipe down the walls with Lysol wipes, and spray Lysol disinfecting air freshener as well.
When I was finished I helped mom clean downstairs, and we moved all the furniture into place. "Jaklynn, now that everything is clean, and we have all the furniture set up, you can go unload the boxes in your room." Mom told me. I hugged her and went back into the attic.
I felt more at home with my stuff in here. My soft bed and warm blankets and pillows with Aztec Indian designs, yarn Aztec rug, and my dresser. I love Aztec Indian designs for some reason. I unpacked all my stuff, decorated with pictures, and put my bin of stuffed animals at the end of my bed. I love stuffed animals, they make me feel safe and loved.
I know that calling my mother mommy, and still liking stuffed animals is childish but I don't care.
I went downstairs to find mom has finished the living room, and her bedroom and now working on the kitchen. she works fast. "Mom, I will go do the bathroom and then take the boxes out to the shed."
"Alright, and please gather some firewood, and put it in there as well, we can burn the cardboard too, so don't get then wet." I did the bathroom and took the boxes out to the shed and wondered into the trees.
I wasn't sure how far I'd gone, but I knew I should go back, it was dark and cold and I know I have enough fire wood for now. I made my way through the vegetation, and threw the wood in the shed. After brushing my self off I got a small box and put the wood in it and carried it inside.
The house was completed, and mom was asleep on the couch. I started a fire and put a blanket over mom, and took a shower. Then went upstairs.
Sitting on the edge of my bed I combed through my long wet blond hair, put my brush away, and grabbed my favorite teddy bear. I played down under the covers and felt my head sink down into my pillow, and cried myself to sleep.
