Epilogue+

“You are such an ass.”

Orin rolls his eyes as he trails behind me. I’m in the process of storming out of a bar called ‘O’Rourke’s Pub’. It’s as Irish as it sounds and though I mostly kept my eyes to myself when I did let my eyes wonder to the rich green aura of the handsome barkeep I should have known my boyfriend’s reaction wouldn’t be civil.

Orin has become unbearably protective since my close call with death and seeing my eyes, and I quote, ‘wander’ he flipped his shit. Grabbing the Barkeep by the collar of shirt and getting in his face while letting out a string of threats was just the tip of the iceberg of the evening.

Honestly I don’t know what his problem is but its got to stop.

Hence the temper tantrum I’m throwing.

“Lila, Angel, Stop walking and look at me.” He sighs, exasperated.

Oh he’s irritated? Well I’m fucking furious!

“Oh now you want my wandering eyes to land on you? Is that it?” I snap as I keep walking down the darkened sidewalk.

“Don’t be a child! He was eyeing you up from the minute you walked in!

I stop and turn to glare at him with my arms crossed over my chest, “Are you serious that insecure? I mean Jesus, Orin! His appeal to me was based on his Aura! I haven’t seen one like that for a while! I was just looking!”

He scoffs, “Sure you were. Your restless, I get that but do you really have to eye up every idiot with a ‘interesting aura’ to get your kicks since you lost your wings?”

I reel back as though I’ve been slapped. Orin’s face falls as he sees the hurt on my face. He knows he’s fucked up now. He knows he’s crossed the line. Looking down at the tips of my black boot clad feet I try to stop my tears from falling. My wings are still, even two months later, a touchy subject for me.

“Leila, I—“

“Don’t.” I snap, my tears falling freely now. “Don’t even fucking say your sorry.”

He runs a hand over his newly trimmed light brown Mohawk looking around for guidance, maybe? “I didn’t mean it.”

“Then why did you say it?”

“I—We haven’t marked each other and I’m trying to be patient, Angel, I really am but…I can’t help the…jealously I feel. I feel the push to claim and mark you as my own more strongly then ever before. I can’t…fuck Leila, I love you!”

“Saying I love you don’t solve everything, Orin.” I mutter.

“I know that. I do but you need to know that I do. Especially when I say careless shit like that. I’m just…edgy.”

“Me too.” I whisper. “Maybe…maybe we should just do it.”

His head snaps up, his lily pad green gaze clashing with mine. “What?”

“Maybe we should mark each other.”

“Angel.” He sighs, “I don’t want you to do it because you want to calm me down.”

“I’m not.” I snap.

“Yes you are.”

“Fuck, Orin! Must I spell it out? I want to mark you as mine. I want to solidify our bond. I want to be with you forever. I. Fucking. Love. You!” I yell at him. I’m surprised the neighbors haven’t woken up to scream at the commotion we’re making. “Do you get it now?”

Suddenly I’m in his arms and pushed against the nearest wall. The position sends a wonderful tingle of déjà vu up my spine. Yes. The first time we were together in the alleyway behind that club I can’t even remember the name of. I don’t have too long to think about it though because Orin’s mouth is on mine in an instant. Before we start going at it like rabbits in springtime he pulls away from my mouth to look at me with glowing orbs of spring green.

“You sure?”

“God yes.” I gasp as his hips rotate against mine.

His fangs break into the flesh of my neck so fast I can’t stop the high-pitched moan that escapes my mouth. This feeling is something only Orin can give me. He doesn’t actually drink much of my blood before he pulls back licking his lips. I won’t lie and say that didn’t turn me on. Without breaking eye contact he bites in his wrist and lets his ruby red blood drip down onto his mark, his claim. The skin fizzles making me bite my lip to stop the sounds I want to make at the sensation.

“Look good, Angel. You look like mine.” He says hoarsely. “Now drink.”

He gives me his wrist and I latch to it quickly. He tastes better then I could have ever imagined. Like raspberries and caramel his taste slides down my throat making us both groan in pleasure. This is almost too much to take in. Everything he’s feeling, I’m feeling and it’s making everything in my body tingle with new awareness. That sensation of rolling lava rock is now replaced with the passionate destruction of a wildfire as it burns me from the inside out.

It’s insanity inducing.

He pulls his wrist back from me and I keep feel his essence drip from my lips. His eyes gleam, as he looks at me with a newfound fire in his gaze. Everything between us feels more heightened, more solid, even. Using his thumb he scoops up some of the droplets running down my chin before putting it in my mouth. I don’t break eye contact as I suck on his thumb before baring my teeth and biting.

He lets out a strangled groan that makes my body burn hotter.

“Your turn.” He rasps.

I unbutton the front of his black button up and place my hand over his heartbeat. It’s beating a tattoo into my hand as I close my eyes and whisper the words in Hebrew that Ari taught me for this occasion. The skin under my hand heats and I open my eyes to see my shadows following my bidding in a dance across Orin’s chest. He cries out suddenly and I know that it’s done.

Pulling back my hand I see a brand, still smoking lying over his chest. “Two souls bonded as one till the fall of the last star’ is permanently etched in his flesh in beautifully scrawled the Hebrew language. It blends nicely with the blue ink of his other Celtic swirls. I feel something in me, long forgotten or simply unknown settles as take in my mark.

Orin is mine.

Now and forever.

“I love you, Angel.” He pants laying his forehead against mine.

“I love you too, eshq-e man.

I meant it. Orin is and always be my love.

Until the last star falls.

THE END

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

So, there it is. The end. Sad I know but Don't worry because I have a plan to satisfy your paranormal needs. See, while I was writing this I came to the question of 'What about Gideon?' The long lost twin of Lila. Well never fear because Mama Bear has some tricks up her sleeve.
