Can We Love

Chapter Eight: Day One

Today was the first day of the Games and I couldn't wait to cheer on the Red SB Lions. The first game on the agenda was basketball but the twist was that if you were on the basketball team you couldn't  play the basketball games and same  goes for all the other games and teams.  The first teams up was the Blue St. Peters   Vs. the Yellow Lincoln high. While that game was still going on SB High was practicing for there game.

Reggie is one of the team's star players and since he  couldn't play he was giving a pep talk to the 'new' team. After that we went to grab a seat in the stands to watch the game. After Blue beat Yellow 20 to 26 it was Red SB High Vs. Green Morison high. Reggie was so hooked to basketball that even before  the game started he was cheering for the Red SB Lion. People were starting to stare including Joe but Reggie didn't care and neither did I. Joe was on the 'new' basketball team. It's was weird seeing him play again. After we broke up I stopped going to his game's. To keep my mind off of him I just talked to Reggie the whole time. He's so interesting. This side side of his is so much sexier. For the first time ever we held hands. Were in the front row and

Joe kept staring at us the whole time. The Game was over with no problem at all because the Green team sucked and we won 20 to 31. The next game was Orange Vs. Purple and purple won 20 to 21. Everyone was getting  ready for the next game. and was practicing I went in side to get water and was alone in the halls at the water fountain until Joe walks in and says not one word. And we just acted like we didn't even exist until I turned around and accidentally faced him, I didn't know that he was in line.

  Our eyes awkwardly meet and I quickly move out of his way. I continue to make my way back to the field and then he says something.

"Wait. " But I keep going because I wasn't going to talk to him. " Mary Jane wait."

Then I turn around

" Three weeks Joe. Three. You acted like I never existed for three weeks. I was nothing to you for three weeks. But now you feel like you can pick what day you want to talk to me? You know what, Joe. Fuck you." I begin to walk away because I felt tears comming and I wasn't going to cry for him. As I got to the end of the hall I hear running footsteps behind me and before you know it he was in front of me. He sees the tears in my eyes and just latches on to me. And at first I fight his hug but then I just let him hold me. I cry in his arms for about 20 minutes, I let go of him then I turned around to leave but his words keep me.

" Mary Jane do you want to know why I  talk to you and why we broke up? "

"Yes" I respond

" My mom found out I was dating you and she said that she would tell my dad unless I hurt you" I shake my head in disbelief.

" Well you sure know how to hurt a girl, don't you Joe?"

" I didn't want to it'sjust that if my dad found out he'd  kick my ass."

" I am so stupid for loving you. I should have never been so comfortable with you. You don't deserve to have my love. And with that being said, I am done with you, Joe Steeler." Then I walk out of the door not looking back.
