I let myself in the front door and was taken aback by the view in front of me. A beautiful mountain stretched towards the heavens and across the valley. "Hello," I called as I set my two bags down by the cream colored, leather sectional. He said he'd be here when I got in. Maybe he'd gone for a midday run. I wandered down the hall and into the master bedroom. "Wesley," I called timidly. "In here," he replied from the bathroom. I hesitated going in. There was no point in asking whether he was decent or not because he'd end up making a joke about looking good all the time.
I charged in, eyes closed. My arms waved around trying to find my friend. Something clicked and I could hear him shift. "What are you doing," he asked. I put my arms down but kept my eyes closed. "I didn't know if you had clothes on or not." He probably rolled his eyes. "Why would I be naked and tell you to come in? Rhetorical question. Just open your eyes." I opened one and then the other, squinting while trying to adjust to the white bathroom. He laughed and then sighed. "Come here," he said, arms outstretched. I sank into his warm embrace. It had been 7 years since we'd physically seen each other but we had kept in touch everyday since.
I sighed. "I missed this," I said into his shirt. It was the same tan cartoon Doctor Who shirt he'd worn in highschool. "I missed you," he replied. I could hear the smile in his voice. For some reason I didn't want to let go. I wanted to stay there forever or as long as he'd allow. We broke and he threw his arm around my shoulder as we walked out of the oversized bathroom. "I was kind of hesitant about coming out here. 7 years apart and then you randomly ask me to move to Colorado and live with you. Why is my question." He grabbed my bags and I followed him to a spare room off of the kitchen. "Remember when you asked me if you could live with me?" I nodded. "Also it gets lonely here and we haven't seen each other in a while. Aren't you attending Colorado University?" "Online with the occasional visits to campus, yes." "I just made your commute shorter." Wesley had clearly thought this through thoroughly. He proceeded to tell me what I already knew about myself but adding it to his point. "You were born here and there's family nearby. You always said you wanted to come back and I gave you a reason. Besides, how could you say no to this." I smiled and rolled my eyes. "Touché." Was all I could say.
