Young Beowulf
The last seep of light drifted just before the door bell rang. Echoing through the house I could hear the footsteps of my parents. Keeping still as a baby could it was close to impossible. Due to the creeping itching of my new Huggies, to the point where I couldn’t take it no more. With one swift motion I grasped the sides and ripped the security of my diaper. Reassuring breeze it was at the moment. The door opened at the front of the room slowly. I nearly dived into my sheets but it resulted in a failure as more than half my body was covered. Except my rear end as I could still feel the cold nights breeze blow by. My body flowed with nervousness. Jolting my hand quickly I was able to cover my shining moon. My parent’s voices trickled in. “He always sleeps so calmly. Goodnight my little angel”. What formations their mouths voiced. Grown-ups speak a whole another language I could never understand. Kind of like how girls talk in their own dialect. Picking up on words such as dolls, make-up, and food it was all I could ever comprehend from girls. Grown-ups they were a completely different in every tone of their voice.
The door shut from a far of distance I could hear the voice of an intruder. My eyes shot out of my head. I jumped up from my crib forcing myself up onto the edge of my crib. Over looking my whole room then downward it was a drop like no other. On the ceiling of room vibrated with star stickers that glowed in the dark. The room darkened with not a beauty of mother light. I could feel the fear tickling my spine. Rubbing my hands together I looked at my bed sheets then at the edge railing of my crib. In an instant I was back in the crib tying the sheets. I jumped back to the edge then wrapped the sheets around my baby fat waist. At first thinking to myself maybe I shouldn’t have ate hundreds of baby yogurt today, but shaking it off I took a final breath. Closing my eyes I jumped hands out soaring through the winds. If this was what sky diving felt like then I was born for it.
My air flight moment didn’t last for long. Dispersing as my face crumpled into the crushing beads of my bean bag. I forced myself up from the clenching grasp of the ball. I was now on the deathly plains of the cave. Following the one thing I could I bolted towards the crack of light that tricked from my door. Kicking toy trucks and tumbling over stranded legos my feet took a beaten to the sea of toys, decorated across my room. Finally after that battle I was at the door. Stretching way above my head to the riches of the ceiling stars. This did not stop me as I always kept a chair next to my door so I could reach the glorified satisfaction of the freedom just beyond this solid mirror. Pushing the chair over with the little strength I had I was able to move on. Turning the knob I cracked the door open to the peer down the hall way.
There my parents spoke to someone I could not see as my father’s enormous hair blocked my view. I needed to get a better picture. So I took a gamble darting across the labyrinth of hallways. Finding myself at the intersection between a pearly white kitchen, and the forbidden living room. I crouched down to the floor quickly standing back up as the floor was colder than that time I stoke my hand in refrigerator. Forgetting I had took off my huggies I was now in a dilemma of on the urge of performing a covert op mission at which I could be caught at any moment, and the fact I might have to try and use the toilet for the first time. The very thought of that white pearled swirling watered demon sent horrible visions to my head. Coming back to the reality of the mission I shifted towards the corner. My heart raced over the sounds of my parents babbling. I stood there at the intersection for a few sections before making my move. Then just as I as I was about to take a look the footsteps came. There weren’t grown-ups. They were more furious. Step after step after step the pondering came closer. I just stared at the kitchen. I licked my lips as they surfaced with sweat. So silent you could hear the droplets of my sweat splash on the cold surface of the wooden floor. Then the footsteps stopped. My eyes squinted. Sighing in relief, but it was too soon, as a hairy beast trotted from the kitchen room. Twice the size off me stood the beast staggered down the hall. Browned hair and dark eyed the beast smiled with joyfulness. Just as he looked into my eyes his posture changed from staggering beast to joyful monstrous dog. “No No stay doggy stay” I whispered. Forcing my hands out in front of me hoping a majestic forced would protect me. This did not stop the joyful fiend. I turned around quickly there was only one thing I could do if I were to get out of this mess. Sacrificing the mission I shifted my steps and turned the corner to the front door screaming off the top of my lungs I ran. Behind me followed up the steps of the beast. My parents turned around in surprise and had the facially expression as if the just saw a ghost. Running past assortments of furniture my speed could not save me. My legs were too little and I was falling close to my doomed future. Taking my finally step my dad launched me up from the floor with his bulldozer like arms. Now I stood tall away from the dangers of the floor. “How in the world did he ever get out?” my mom said. In reply my dad spoke but in there weird language. “No scamp. Don’t chase the baby! And where in the world is his diaper?” he questioned. Looking into its eyes I could see sadness, the beast dropped to the ground. From this height he didn’t seem much of a threat. Except maybe the spark in his eyes that revealed a hint of wanting.
