Garin looked Nadia up and down, taking in the nice view… though he hated to admit it. How exactly the woman had managed to turn sheets into dress was beyond his comprehension. He realized he was staring at about the time Nadia’s cheeks reddened. He tore his eyes away, and removed the scarf from his neck which he used to cover his face. “It looks nice.” He said quickly, then removed his cloak from the hook he’d just hung it on, exchanging the scarf for it. “Go get your sandals.”
“Why?” Nadia asked, tilting her head to the side, looking quite confused. It was also then that he noticed how pale her cheeks were. “Where are we going?”
“Well, I was going to take you to get some cloth… since I had forgotten to do that.” He frowned then, brow furrowing in contemplation. “Although, you look fairly pale… are you sick? If tomorrow would be better-”
“Tonight is fine!” Nadia cut in, then walked quickly to her room, exiting later while pulling her sandals on her feet. “I am not letting tonight pass me by simply because I don’t feel well!”
Garin pretended to ignore that, while actually stifling laughter at her immediate recovery. “Mhm, are you ready?” He pulled his cloak on once more, then pulled the temporary one off its hook and held it out to Nadia. When she didn’t see it because she was too busy fiddling with her sandals or dress, he draped it over her head and opened the door.
“Oh, thanks…” Nadia pulled on the cloak and hurried out the door. Her excitement was obvious, and it amused him how the color had returned to her cheeks upon hearing his intentions to buy her the cloth she needed. She was smiling too, suddenly, and he was glad that his hair was long enough to cover the red flush that had come upon his ears. “I thought you never had any intention of taking me to do this.”
Garin would have suggested she trust him more, but decided it would be an odd thing to say to someone he would eventually have to kill. “I had decided to a while back, but I had forgotten. Fortunately though, I remembered when you showed me that dress…” He rubbed his nose, hoping that would stifle an oncoming yawn. “Which reminds me… why did you choose the bed sheets, and not the curtains in that room?”
Nadia snorted, surprising Garin enough to cause him to jump a little. “They were soft.”
Garin paused mid-step, causing Nadia to walk right into his back. Evidently she wasn’t feeling as well as she attempted to show if she couldn’t keep from running into him. “You chose them for your dress because they were soft, yet you laughed at me because of my cloak preferences?”
“Well… it was only that I hadn’t expected it of you. You’re just so… I don’t know, you seem like the type of person who wouldn’t care about the coarseness of his fabric.”
“What do my looks have anything to with cloth?!” Garin demanded, causing Nadia to laugh even harder. He sighed heavily. “Nevermind, let’s go.” He urged her onward, trying to ignore her fit of giggles. Is she actually amused, or so sick that she’s lost her mind?
“I have decided… your lack of clothes without blood-stains is ridiculous, so… if I have leftover cloth, I will make you some clothes as well.”
