Two weeks had passed, and Nadia was already out of the little bottle of miracles, as Garin had named it. While he was away, she decided she could just sneak over to Javik’s and get a refill just in case the need came up again, although the last couple of weeks had not been as bad as the first. She came upon the door and knocked, but no one answered - even though she could hear voices talking inside. Instead of waiting, Nadia pushed the door open and spotted Javik talking to a customer while trying to get Kida settled.

“...I heard since that marriage is coming up with the king of Evvall that Norwell’s kingdom has been restless.”

“How do you mean?” Javik asked, cradling Kida in one arm and stirring a potion with the other. “Restless?”

“Aye, I heard they aren’t happy about it.” The man on the other side of the counter said. He let out a light chuckle, “I heard they wanted their princess married to ‘im.”

“I see.” Javik looked rather busy from what Nadia could see, so she stood a good distance away so he wouldn’t see her just yet. “Well that’s too bad.”

“Aye! I heard that they had a peace treaty and they hoped that the king would marry their princess to keep the peace, but it looks like that treaty isn’t going to stay if they are so angry.”

Javik moved to lay Kida down in her cradle and then went back to pour the potion into a bottle for the man in front of him. “I see, well, it’s not like we’ll be involved.” He looked perplexed as to why this man was giving him all this information. Nadia could see his brows were raised and he looked eager to get back to doing whatever he was doing before this customer showed up.

“That will be five hundred gold.”

“Expensive.” The man said, reaching into a satchel and pulling out a bag of coins, “Good thing I got myself paid.”

Javik said nothing as he took the coins and pushed the potion bottle towards the customer. “Have a good day, Mark.”

“You too.” And with that, the man left.

Nadia finally appeared from the shadows and leaned against the counter, “Hi!”

“When did you get here? I didn’t even see you come in.” Javik chuckled, going back for Kida who was beginning to get fussy again. He put her in what looked like a pouch and strapped it to his back. “What can I get for you?”

“I’m out of my little bottle of miracles, and I was wondering if you could get me a just in case bottle... sometimes I still get sick.”

“I see! No problem, it won’t take me too long to make it now that Kida is settled...” He glanced back to the child who was sucking on her knuckle. “She’s not much of an apprentice... Garin owes me.”

“She’ll get there.” Nadia laughed softly, “She really seems to love you.”
