camila walked over to the where she had left olivia, kneeling down to her height before the small girl turned around to face her, looking down at her feet to avoid eye contact "now baby, do you understand why i put you in the corner?" olivia waited a few seconds before answering, still mad about not getting her way "because i was being bad and not listening when mama said no" that being said, she still had her own beliefs when it came to the situation "but i wanted milk and mama didnt-" camila cut her off by giving her a stern look "do you need another four minutes?" her tone was strict, one ollie knew not to argue against. the small girl shook her head, the surface of her eyes becoming glossy as they filled with tears.
camila picked her up, rubbing her back as she walked over to the couch. "no tears baby, you're okay" olivia sat straddled on her lap, wiping away the few tears that had fallen from her blue eyes "you have to understand that no means no baby. when me or mama say no, it's for a reason. mama had to make breakfast so we could all eat and then go have a fun day" her hand rubbed circles on her back, keeping the young girl calm as she had a bad habit of getting frustrated easily "we both love you very much, but you have to know that actions have consequesces" olivia tilted her head to the side, not understanding the big word at the end.
camila laughed at the confused expression on her face "actions have consequences." she repeated "meaning when you do something wrong, you have to be punished for it so that you understand what you did wrong and why you shouldn't do it again." ollie nodded as she brushed a strand of her long hazelnut hair out of her face "now, what do you think it's time for you to do?" she lifted olivia off of her lap, setting her on the floor, still looking her in the eyes. "say sorry to mama and give her a big hug! and a kiss too!"
the two of them smiled at each other, camila nodding and patting the young ones padded bottom "go on then" with that being said, ollie ran off to the kitchen, seeing lauren set two glasses and a sippy cup of orange juice down on the table.
"hey little one." lauren kneeled down to her height, knowing what she had came to do "mama," lauren raised her eyesbrows, smiling at the young one, hoping to make her a little less nervous as apologies really weren't her thing "hmm?" olivia waited a few seconds before quickly wrapping her arms around lauren, giving her the best hug she possibly could "im sorry mama, i love you very much" laurens heart melted. she picked the small girl up, holding her in her embrace as she kissed her strawberry scented hair a few times. "oh beautiful girl, you're so brave. thank you for apologizing, you're forgiven, and mama loves you even more."
sure lauren and camila weren't the best parents in the world, but moments like this were what made it all worth while. they wanted olivia to know right from wrong. they wanted her to grow up to be smart and independent in her own ways, and although it was hard to be tell her no and have to put her in the corner every now and then, it all paid off eventually.
after breakfast♡
camila pulled her hair up into a high ponytail after throwing on some ripped jeans and a sweater. seconds later lauren stepped out of the shower, wrapping a white towel around her slim body "she's still out?" olivia got put down for a nap about two hours after breakfast and was still out an hour later "yeah, guess that morning tantrum robbed all of her energy" camila sat on the bathroom counter as she ran the mascara brush over her long lashes, making sure they looked perfect "quit wearing all that makeup, you're beautiful without it" lauren placed a kiss on her lips before walking out and into their master bedroom to get ready for the day. camila just rolled her eyes at the green eyed girl, giving her a playful smile.
one diaper change, nursing session, and a small tantrum later, the three were walking to the park to get out and enjoy the day. "we're here!" olivia eagerly tried to get out of her stroller, waiting to be unstrapped "patience baby" lauren pushed the stroller over to a bench, sitting down next to camila as she started to undo the straps. ollie got out, already attempting to run towards the playground that was full of other kids "hey! not yet" camila grabbed her wrist and turned her to face her "you stay where we can see you do you understand me?"
lauren smiled over at the two, loving how overprotective and serious camila could be. lauren wasn't the best at being the serious one, she gave into olivia's tantrums all too often, that's why the young girl always threw them when she was around her.
olivia nodded "yes mommy i promise i understand" with that being said, she ran off to the playground, immediately heading for the slide.
"you're so good at being intimidating, i can't get her to listen to me for shit" camila places a hand on laurens thigh, laying her head on her shoulder "you're just a lovable teddy bear you cant help it" camila said with a chuckle.
laurens mouth dropped open with a gasp "am not!"
"oh baby, dont deny the truth" camila looked up, placing three gentle kisses on laurens lips as she smiled at her "i love you." she slipped her hand into laurens after hearing a soft "i love you too" back from her. they watched olivia in silence for a while, just enjoying each other's company.
