Trevkey opened her eyes and frowned. She wasn't screaming, she wasn't drenched in sweat, and her whole body wasn't shaking like a leaf.

She was feeling off, though.

Cold emptiness sat in her stomach, growing slowly. The coldness slowly creeping up in her chest and squeezing her throat.

Shivering, she pulled her bed sheets closer to her. Maybe she did have a nightmare and it left her with that odd but somewhat familiar felling.

Suddenly, she gasped as she felt a screeching pain slashing her body, piercing though her.

Breathing erratic, she sat up, her hand grasping her stomach. She threw the covers off of her. Cringing and letting out a pained cry, she pulled up her shirt and franticly touched her skin, searching for an injury.

She found none.

Confused, her face twisted painfully and she shut her eyes tightly. Gritting her teeth, she hunched over, hair falling in front of her face.

It lasted what felt like several minutes, but then, it stopped.

The burning pain was gone.

Emptiness and silence filled her again.

Her face relaxed and she dared open her eyes.

They were blank as she listened to her own breathing to try and forget the buzzing and the pounding in her ears.

She slowly threw her legs off of her bed. Her bare feet made contact with the cold floor, and a numb shiver went up her back.

Swallowing and shaken, she grabbed a pair of sweatpants that she put on. She stood up carefully, and seeing that she could stand and walk without passing out, left her room.

The blonde bit her nails anxiously. What was she thinking? Sure, he was her best friend and they had been through a lot, but it was the middle of night. He could get mad at her for disturbing him.

But she had already knocked. She was about to leave, but she heard shuffling inside, at last. She held her breath as the door slid open.

A sleepy Poe stood there in the door frame. He frowned, puzzled, but not necessarily annoyed or mad. A beautiful blueish hue made his skin glow softly. His curly chocolate hair was a mess and his matching eyes tired, and the ring on his necklace dangled gently on his bare chest.

"Trev?" he asked.

She stayed silent, still her hand to her mouth. Her face was ghostly white and dark blue circles hung from her eyes. She stared into nothing.

Poe, one arm resting on the doorframe, straightened himself and took a small step forward.

"Trevkey? What's wrong? Are you all right?"

She finally stopped chewing her nail and spoke.

"I can't sleep." she said in a small breaking voice.

Poe's face was serious and he clenched his jaw.

"All right." he said in a low voice. "Would you like to come in?"

Trevkey swallowed, than nodded, looking back up to him.

"Yeah. Yeah, I'd like that." she whispered.

Poe nodded too and he moved aside to let her in. She did, her chilled bare arm grazing his warm one.

He shut the door behind them, and Trevkey stood in the middle, hugging herself. The covers were messily scattered and a pillow was laid on the floor. The lamp on the bedside cupboard was switched on, giving the room a calming and warm yellow atmosphere.

Poe grabbed a white shirt that laid too on the floor and swiftly put it on before turning back to Trevkey. He scratched the back of his neck and eyed her figure, his deep chestnut orbs glistening with concern. He hesitated a bit before speaking again, a comfortable silence floating inside the room.

"Nightmares?" he asked.

She shrugged, her hands fiddling.

"Something like that." she said.

He hummed.

"Wanna talk about it?"

He was casual, reassuring and calm. It eased her pounding heart.

"No. Not now, anyway."

"All right." he said. "Do you want to go back to sleep?"

She finally looked at him, the hint of a nervous smile grazed her lips.

"Yeah."

"All right." he smiled. "Come on."

He made his way to the opposite side of the bed, grabbing the stranded pillow.

"Do you mind if I-"

"No." she immediately urged. "Not at all."

He grinned.

"Okay."

He carefully slipped under the covers, and Trevkey finally did the same hesitantly. He gave her his pillow and placed the other on under his head. Poe rolled on his side and she did too so they faced each other. His gaze was soft, but she didn't meet it yet.

"You sure you don't want to-"

"Could you hold me?" she cut him off.

He blinked, but almost immediately nodded softly.

"Of course."

He scooted closer to her, and she soon met his embrace. Laying her head on his shoulder, burying her face into his chest, her arms wrapped themselves around his torso. He waited till she stopped moving to carefully put his hand on her back, his other arm slipped under her neck. He held her head gently, his fingers sinking into her soft golden hair. Poe pulled Trevkey even closer to her so that he could share his warmth, their legs intertwined. His touch burned her skin and she never wanted him to let go. She shut her eyes tightly and she focused on his sharp musky scent. It was a pleasant mix of cologne and men's soap, with a tiny hint of motor fuel. A familiar and comforting smell.

He stroke her hair and she listened to his slow and steady heartbeat. He pressed a kiss on the top of her head and she felt tingles running down her scalp.

"It's okay, love." he murmured after few moments of silence. "I'll stay right here with you. No one can hurt you when I'm with you. You know that."

He felt something damping his shirt and gave Trevkey a small squeeze.

He continued to whispers sweet words to her, still stroking her back. He became silent after few minutes, and he thought she was finally sleeping soundly. She told him one last sentence before finally falling in a dreamless sleep wrapped in Poe's warmth.

"I felt her die." she whispered.
