❝HONEY❞
❚chapter three; nice khakis❚
TUCKING IN HIS SHIRT, Michael fixed his hair before walking out of the employee break room. His bright red shirt, littered with a few grease stains from after work with Ashton, displayed his name.
The white oval pin that was his name tag was always crooked, which Ashton always pointed out, displayed his name in big, black letters.
Being a target employee was obviously not Michaels dream job, but it payed good enough, and he had yet to be fired. Nothing ever exciting happened, only once when Michael caught a woman sticking lipstick in her pocket. Michael only made her put it back and scolded her.
Today was Michaels easy day. He wasn't working the registers, which meant he just walked around looking pretty. Though that was about as easy as it could get, he still couldn't handle it.
Michael had problems with keeping on task. He could usually be found on his on a pile of pillows, sleeping, or in the electronics section, sitting on the floor and playing the newest 'Halo'.
Today, Michael was flipping through the video games when a boy, maybe a year or so younger than Michael walked up to him. Michael knew the type, on the bigger side, hoodie and sweatpants even though it's still hot out, and most definitely a virgin.
"Um, yeah, do you guys sell 'Medal of Honor' here?" his deep voice said. He wouldn't make eye contact with Michael, who knew he was intimidating the boy.
"Yeah, it's kind of an old one though, don't you think?" Michael eyed the boy, who was a few inches shorter than him.
Immediately, the boy started stuttering, trying to answer Michael on why he was buying an old game.
"It's okay," Michael chuckled, putting a hand on his shoulder. Michael wasn't the best at comforting people, but he immediately felt the boy relax.
"Follow me." Michael called behind him, walking down and around to the next aisle, where the first person shooter games were on displayed. Michael thumbed through the cases before finding the specific one and handing it to him.
"Thanks" the boy breathed before turning on his heel and walking away as fast as he possibly could. Michael wandered over to the testing section, where he spotted an adorable toddler with blond, curly pigtails, and a polka dotted skirt. She had a controller in her small hands, looking at it confusedly and pushing random buttons.
Michael walked over to her, a grin on his face. He had seen this a million times, and knew exactly what had to do.
"Hi, sweetie." He knelt down beside her, his arm resting on his knee. The little girl looked at him, frightened.
"My names Michael." He slowly took the controller from her, making the little girl frown.
"Where's your mommy?" He asked slowly, a friendly tone in his voice. The little girl shrugged, making Michael sigh. He knew he was going to have to drag the kid around until we found her frantic parents.
"Okay, then. What's your name?"
"Ana.." The little girl whispered.
"Ana?" Michael fake gasped, "What a beautiful name!"
The little girl giggled at him, then looked up with wide eyes. Michael chuckled, loving little kids reactions to his crazy hair.
"You wanna touch?" Michael asked. The girl nodded, making Michael grin as he looked down at the ground. He felt tiny fingers brush his thinning purple and black hair, twisting and pulling lightly. She continued for a few more seconds before pulling back. When Michael looked up, she had the biggest smile on her face, which in turn made Michael break out into a huge smile.
