❝HONEY❞
❚chapter nine;who even invited you?❚
"YOU'RE unbelievable!" Michael groaned, putting his head in his hands.
"I'm sorry! You know how things just slip out!" Ashton defended himself. His excuse was always that he couldn't keep that big mouth of his shut.
"That doesn't happen to me!" Michael fought to keep his voice down. He was really annoyed with Ashton right now.
"Well I was also around Rory, and you know how I get around girls!"
This was true, around girls that he liked, Ashton became a complete dumb ass. He usually scared them off by accidentally coming off too strong and making them uncomfortable. Rory wasn't fazed by it, though. She might actually like him too.
"Let me make it up to you. Why don't you come sit with me at lunch and embarrass me in front of them all." Ashton offered, as if he had just figured out a way to make everything better.
"Who's 'them'?" Michael asked, even though he had a fairly good idea.
"Uh - Honey, Jack, Rory and..and Luke." Ashton closed his eyes, bracing himself from the insults coming his way.
"Luke? Luke Hemmings? Are you out of you're damn mind? Jesus Christ, Ashton! Sometimes I seriously wonder how the hell you passed second grade."
"It was just a suggestion!" Ashton whisper yelled. Just about everyone had heard Michaels comments about Ashton's intelligence, and a few were snickering about it. Michael gave them the death glare. No one but Michael could make fun of Ashton, and if anyone else tried, Michael would take care of them.
"You always disappear to go eat alone. Just this once, please?" Ashton begged, widening his eyes and sticking out his bottom lip.
"I'll think about it." Michael compromised, turning back to face the board. He smiled when he heard Ashton's quiet cheering. He felt bad, because he didn't need to think about it; he already knew he wasn't going.
-
The lunch bell rung two hours later, and he still knew he wasn't going to eat with Ashton and his group. He told himself it would be lame, and he wouldn't enjoy himself, yet, he found himself walking towards the curly haired boy.
"You came!" Ashton cheered, flashing a dazzling smile Michaels way. Ashton placed a hand on Michaels shoulder, guiding him around the large lunchroom.
"We have to eat inside today, it's cold." Ashton informed Michael, who nodded in acknowledgement. In what felt like the very center of the room, Ashton plopped his bag by a chair and sat down, patting the seat next to him. Reluctantly, Michael sat down next to him, rolling his eyes and taking out his phone.
"Hey!" Ashton called, waving excitedly to someone. Michael looked up, seeing it was Luke. He had forgotten all about the blond-haired twat.
Luke and Michael had been fighting for years. Truth was, it's pretty stupid, but Michaels a stubborn boy and refused to let it go.
In 9th grade, Michael had no idea who Luke even was. He only knew him as the blonder haired kid who sat in the corner. It started off slowly, Luke would start copying Michael. First, it was the music he listened to. If Michael loved a band, Luke would eventually love them, too. Before Michael started dying his hair, he had famous blond fringe. Girls would ask Michael to flip it for them almost everyday. 2 months after school started Luke got his hair cut in a more trendy style, stealing all of Michaels admirers away.
This wasn't what set the deal, though. Michael could deal with a fanboy easy. Michaels long time crush, Maddy Johnson was just beginning to like Michael before Luke swooped in. Luke even knew about Michaels crush. Hell, almost everyone did. He had stolen Michaels style, his girl, and most importantly; his pride. Ever since Michael has hated Luke, and just to piss him off, Luke continued copying Michael, but he would do it ten times better.
