When did my life get so complicated? There's no way I can agree to this, right? I mean, what the hell is he thinking?

"When you say, 'make you mine', what exactly did you have in mind?"

I was scared about the answer he'd give, but I needed to know...

...At least that's what I'm telling myself anyway.

"Before I tell you, just promise me you won't freak out, okay?"

"I promise. Now spit it out."

"Okay, initially I thought of asking you to marry me, but then I decided against that,"

Oh thank fu*k for that!

"Then I thought about getting you to submit to me, but then I thought that was a bit much,"

Jeez... Ya think!?

I stood with my mouth wide open, a little shocked at his words. I could see his lips moving, but I couldn't hear what he was saying. I think he noticed because his lips stopped moving and he cocked his head to the side and smiled at me in amusement.

"Are you okay, Ellie?"

"You were going to make me submit to you?" I said, throwing my hands up in a fit of... Something that I can't even explain.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" I yelled, hitting his arm.

"I wasn't going to make you submit to me. I was merely going to suggest it."

"That doesn't make it better, Sam. I could never be like that. I'm not that kind of girl." I said, taking a few deep breaths in and out slowly.

"I would never make you do something you were uncomfortable with, Ellie." He said, placing a hand gently on my cheek.

"What exactly are you hoping to get out of this?" I asked.

"I actually want you out of all this. But believe it or not, I don't want to push you into something that you'd be--

"Uncomfortable with. Yeah, I get it, and I appreciate that. But why do you need to have some legally binding contract that ties me to you? Why can't you just tell me what you want like any normal person would do?"

The way he was looking at me right now told me that he knew I was right.

"It's not a legally binding contract, Ellie."

"Really? Then what would you call it then?"

He didn't reply, he just went silent.

"I rest my case."

As I turned to walk away, he caught my wrist and spun me around to face him.

"Just hear me out, please Ellie."

"Are you trying to say you want me all to yourself, relationship or not?"

"In some way, yes."

I feel a 'but' coming...

"But..."
I knew it!

"I want you to feel comfortable with the decisions I make regarding you, and I want you to be comfortable around me."

"I do feel comfortable around you."

At least I think I do!

He moved closer to me, closing the little gap between us, making me take a deep breath. I closed my eyes and felt the back of his hand lightly brush my cheek, sending a shiver down my spine.
