Oh darling husband. I write this letter to you now to wish you a merry Christmas. Johnny has been behaving, so that's good news. I have, also, heard news of the war. I hear of the battles we are winning, and that we are loosing. I have heard of gruesome tales. After I wrote you last I became aware of a battle in Arkansaw. My brother was there. That's right, my brother Timothy, you remember him darling. He was the one who drank so much, two years ago, and jumped into the lake out back of my grandaddy's farm. I remember my daddy laughing so hard, and my mother grabbing him by his ear and dragging him toward his old room.He slept like a baby.

My sister, Laura, had her baby. It was at long last, and she gave birth to twins. She named them Genevieve and Cynthia. Two little girls. I am so proud of her, and even better was that Annabelle helped. Johnny wanted to help as well, until he passed out watching it unfold. By the time little Genevieve came out, he was out cold. I bet you are laughing at this note. I bet you believe I am untruthful. When you return, I will tell you the entire story.

Once again I pray for your safe return.
